He will discuss his recent co-authored book, "Culturally Responsive Schooling for Indigenous Mexican Students." Perez is an immigrant from El Salvador and a first-generation college graduate whose research focuses on the civic engagement, multilingualism, and academic resilience of immigrant, undocumented, indigenous, and deported students in the U.S. and Mexico.

Congratulations to Kelly Gonez, LAUSD Board Member for Board District #6, for her latest resolution, "Éxito y Promesa: Deepening and Expanding Support for Multi-Language Learners".

With the help of 30+ dedicated parents, youth, and community-based organization partners, including those part of the GRO workgroup, this resolution passed unanimously on May 7th, 2024.

The resolution outlines the commitment to providing rigorous, inclusive education for their diverse student population, including strategic initiatives to enhance support and foster collaboration.
