With our 3-year anniversary around the corner (Sunday) we are proud to collaborate with Chef Mario Alberto of .la .
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Chef Mario Alberto’s global style of cooking boasts an amalgamation of cultures and flavors. Alberto’s inspiration comes from his travels through the Latin
America, the Amazon, Europe, as well as the minimalist approach of Japanese cooking. His keen
eye for the peak seasonality of ingredients from local Farmer’s Markets, comes from a high-minded
focus on sustainability and an eco-conscious philosophy.
Mario Alberto’s interest in art, photography, and design, led him to pursue a degree in film and
screenwriting. However, it would be the experience of spending countless hours as a child in the
kitchen with his mother, preparing traditional Mexican cuisine for Holidays and events, that would
eventually serve as the touchstone in influencing his culinary career.

In the pandemic summer of 2020, Heather realized her vision with FLOURING, an imaginative dessert brand inspired by the vibrant flavors of Heather’s Chinese and Mexican heritage, and that champions ingredients from neighboring LA farmers and purveyors. Since those early days, she’s joyfully catered to the LA community, now operating with a dynamic, women-led team at the helm in her newly opened Chinatown Cake Shop.
Heather’s signature floral forward cakes have been featured in numerous publications of Vogue and Elle, and her innovative, fine art driven takes on classic American desserts have garnered much affection from local and national food journalists and food adventurers alike.
