Homeboy Industries
Homeboy Industries is the world's largest gang rehabilitation and re-entry program.
For over 34 years, we have stood as a beacon of hope in Los Angeles to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women seeking to transform their lives. Homeboy provides job training positions and free social services for formerly gang involved and previously incarcerated men and women. Each client is assigned a Case Manager on day one who helps them set a goal plan that may inclu
Participants of the Homeboy 5K aren’t just LA locals, meet Jeff who’s flying in all the way from Dubuque, IA! We asked Jeff what motivated him to travel to CA to join us and he shared, “I saw Father Boyle on March 20th of this year, when he spoke at Loras College in my town, Dubuque, IA. I was really touched by his words of wisdom. I [also] came out for the Global Homeboy Network Gathering…It was an emotional, profound week in LA. I went to Homeboy Industries for a tour, the energy I felt is something that I’ve never felt before! It’s a magical place, and this week has been truly life changing for me!
I turn 40 in September, and I wanted to do something that I’ve never done before. [After hearing about the Homeboy 5k], I told our leader, Morgan, at the Dubuque Rescue Mission… he was very supportive and encouraging! I signed up that same day, and I set a goal to raise $2500. So far, I’m almost at $1500!”
If you can’t make it out in September, you can support Jeff and other participants who are raising funds to support our work by visiting our Race Roster, link in bio!

Homie Spotlight! Meet Carlos Rolando Castro. Reflecting on his education journey, he shared: “Spending decades in prison has a way of tearing down your spirit and your mind, if you let it; I was determined not to let that happen to me. I stayed busy, I read lots of books…and I enrolled in college classes whenever I could. I, along with some positive right minded well motivated fellow inmates, created several self-help groups. We were using cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) to help inmates figure out how to change their maladaptive responses and self-defeating behaviors. When I was finally able to win my freedom, I came straight to Homeboys Industries… At Homeboys I received the help of such a kind, truly motivated team, the education team, Brittany, Laura, Hannah. With their help and dedication I was able to enroll in East Los Angeles College. Today I am enrolled in CSU Long Beach. I see a future full of possibilities, and I am eternally grateful for all the help I received, and that I continue to receive. Homeboy Industries is a family, and I know that I can always count on them to help me whenever I need it.”

We are incredibly grateful for community members that share our belief in the transformative power of second chances. With the support of Los Angeles County’s Justice Care and Opportunities Department, we were able to host a workforce resource fair where several local businesses came out to share a variety of resources available to our trainees and community members. During the fair, youth from the were able to sell their artwork and show off their impressive work.
Thank you to Hilda Solis for her support in making this fair possible.

Homie spotlight: Congratulations Anthony Brown for your new position at Toyota! Anthony landed this dream role with the help of our workforce development team, he shares, “(Homeboy Industries) welcomed me with open arms and embraced me when I was alone in a world that was completely new to me… I met Miss Denise and she was the most sweetest and down to earth woman… She sat me down and helped me write a resume…I kept coming sitting in classes and receiving the knowledge that they offer…I just kept watering that seed with the love and support of homeboys and family. I landed a job that I would have never imagined: a factory Toyota job as a stamp pressing operator. With Homeboys, they continue to support me along my journey because this is just a start for me…As we say every day there is no place like Homeboys!”
