This was our second Boyd Industrial Olympics where all of our employees are welcome to compete and put their skills and knowledge to the test.

The first round included an online assessment with the top scorers advancing to Regionals, and the top 10 from Regionals moving on to compete in the Finals.

If you live in the Louisville area, you're probably familiar with the I-64 project our customer, Louisville Paving and Construction Company, worked on earlier this year.

This massive project had over 40 pieces of Cat equipment onsite for each phase. One of the more notable parts of the job featured in the pictures below was replacing the floor of the Cochran Hill Tunnels. The concrete in the tunnel was cut into 6’ x 6.5’ sections and removed with a special “slab” bucket on a 335 excavator.

With a tight deadline and low clearance under the tunnel, this job posed some unique challenges. But nothing that a few creative solutions and hard work couldn't solve.
