TTUHSC Faculty Receive Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards Recognizing academic excellence, the honors are the most prestigious awards granted to faculty throughout the TTU System.
“To me, celebrating Women’s History Month gives me the opportunity to think about all the women that came before me and what they did to make my path a little easier,” says Melinda Corwin, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, a professor in the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Health Professions Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. “Being a woman in higher education provides wonderful opportunities to mentor and prepare the next generation of women.”

Eric MacLaughlin, Pharm.D., professor and chair of Pharmacy Practice for the TTUHSC-Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy in Amarillo, received the Education Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy - AACP at the 2022 Global Conference on Clinical Pharmacy earlier this month. The award recognizes members who have made substantial and outstanding contributions to clinical pharmacy education at the professional or postgraduate level. Congratulations to John Pelley, Ph.D., MBA, for reaching 50 years of service at ! 🙌 Dr. Pelley is the first member in the School of Medicine to achieve this milestone.
Congratulations to John Pelley, Ph.D., MBA for being the first employee to achieve 50 years of service at TTUHSC School of Medicine! 🥇
Dr. Pelley joined the School of Medicine in June of 1972 as an Assistant Professor. Since then he has worked in many leadership positions including Chair of Biochemistry (1978-1981) and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (1978-1987) and has been a Tenured Professor in the Department of Medical Education since 2012.
Dr. Pelley has received numerous awards including the TTUHSC Graduate School Dean's Office Award, the AOA Robert Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award, the Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award and the President's Excellence in Teaching Award twice.
We appreciate Dr. Pelley's commitment to the school & students and congratulate him on this great achievement!
