I am so grateful that I get to create spaces where people gather around, live, and connect. Islands are one of those pieces of furniture that we gravitate towards and make memories, even on the most uninteresting days.

I remember growing up with an island that my grandfather built for our kitchen. It was also poised perfectly in the sun, and on cold winter days, that is where everyone sat to catch the rays.

I have so many memories sitting around that island, from doing school work, baking cookies, coloring as a child, or eating grilled cheese. Nothing exciting happened, just ordinary life. Yet, it was so special and it still brings warm feelings to my heart when I think about it.

Coming from a social work background, I spent a lot of time on the road and visited many different homes when meeting with clients. It was at that time that, I realized how much we rely on our environment to meet our physical and emotional needs. We crave for moments of connection, fun, slowness, and rejuvenation. I believe our homes should support us through the many roller coasters of life and stages.

I love envisioning how my clients will use the space and creating something that elicits the feeling of joy, connection, and restoration.

Taking in some self care this season! My self care looks like journaling, holding coffee (with both hands) by the fire, or taking a shower alone without a toddler 😆

Designing a beautiful bathroom or kitchen is like a playground for me. But, what’s even more magical, is when I get to design around a self care routine for my client. Icing on the cake!

From gorgeous bathtubs, tiled showers, coffee/drink stations, built in cabinetry for that cozy reading nook... there are so many opportunities to make your day feel grounded when you have a self care moment built into the design.

How do you make a brand new kitchen feel warm and classic, as if it’s been there for years?

Here’s what we did:
We mixed old with new for this small kitchen reno. We paired the white base cabinets with an antique wall glazed cabinet.

The white retro refrigerator brings in a vintage vibe and compliments the white cabinets.

Lastly, we put on the finishing touches by mixing modern decor with antiques for a curated and lived-in look.

My first introduction to interior design: magazines :) It feels like I am coming home again by returning to print, after becoming a bit desensitized on IG and Pinterest (both great resources, but over stimulating at times).

For this kitchen design, it was requested that we repurpose the range from the previous kitchen. Not going to lie, I felt a good amount of resistance to this idea. I wanted to bring in something new and modern… however, that wasn’t an option for this particular project.

Knowing what I had to work with, I brought in a white vent hood to match the range and tied in handmade clay tile to give it an old world feel. The rest of it came together a lot easier with warm wood cabinets and brass accents. I actually fell in love with it after it was all said and done.

I guess sometimes it’s better when we don’t have our way. It pushes me to find a solution that I would not have otherwise thought of. 🤍

It was fun styling this coffee nook and entryway back in 2020… but guess what?? She’s comin’ down!! We’re starting over with a full kitchen remodel for my lovely friend and it’s going to be the most dreamy European-English Cottage-but American farmhouse you ever did see.

This family is so so sweet and my heart feels full that I get to help them design the kitchen they’ve been waiting 6 years for! We’re starting January so stay tuned…

I love making a space that is functional AND special. And it’s absolutely possible (if not necessary) to have both! That’s why having a designer on your team is going to make a huge transformation, because we can do function really well, but make it pretty. Let me reiterate. Make it pretty folks!! 😍

We get so caught up in the unnecessary ‘busy life’ and chaos when our homes are not representative of who we are, or who we strive to be. I love to work with clients by encouraging them to slow down through thoughtful design and create areas of the home that elicit positive experiences, wellness, and connection. We spend most of our time getting ready in the bathroom, and gathering in the kitchen. I’m a mom, a business owner, and a life partner. I need my home to reflect my lifestyle and to lift me up, not bring me down. Invest in your home and you will see dramatic changes across the board in your life. Kitchens are my true love when it comes to design and I think that’s because we spend so much time in this communal space. We gather, we eat, cook, share, bicker, laugh, cry 😭.

The kitchen is where my little guy learned to walk and now hangs on my legs while I prepare his food. I know this space will continue to hold more memories along the way. The kitchen truly has to support our functional needs, but also our emotional needs.

That’s why I love designing kitchens because they hold so much possibility and personality. (And if a client gives me free range to do ‘whatever’… it’s glorious).

Tip: design your kitchen around your needs. Think about spacial awareness, flow, how you move, do you have one or two cooks, where do you like to eat, gather? Do you prefer to be a part of the party or cook with some privacy? Be intentional. It makes a huge difference.

So many of you responded to our home bathroom in my stories, so I thought I would show it again and give you proof that a single family bathroom CAN serve as a luxurious experience.

At times, all three of us 👦🏼🙋🏼‍♂️🙆‍♀️ stand in here at the same time and brush our teeth. Like I said,

Here are a few tips to make a small bathroom feel larger:

• Float your vanity so that your eyes can see the floor underneath.

• Opt for a glass shower wall vs a shower curtain or shower door.

• Walk-in shower (no tub) will make the room feel bigger.

• Use hooks for towels vs a towel bar.

• Carry the tile from the shower over the sink for continuation and flow. The eyes love repetition.

• 36” or bigger mirror for reflection.

What I love about these windows, is the fact that the framing was already a part of the structure. Each of the posts were built underneath the siding of the barn - we took off the siding and 'popped' these glass pieces in place. Makes for a nice view, don't you think?⁠

When I meet with my clients, I’m always asking questions about what is most important to them in their homes, their designs, and ultimately, their lives. So, I thought I’d share some of the things that are most important to me in return. What are three things that are important to you? Here are my mine...

✨An abundance of natural light! Gotta have large
✨A home that is easy to clean and put things away - closed storage.
✨Daily afternoon ritual where I make ice coffee and sit on my back porch or at the kitchen table. Always something sweet to go along with it :)
✨Having a sanctuary to come home to and feel like I can unwind and be my complete self.
✨Surround myself with beautiful things that I love, such as vintage oil paintings, pretty linens, my fav pottery mugs, and flowers...Could go on, but those are just a few!

A great way to embrace the summer season indoors is to change out some of those heavier textures for lighter and brighter options. Try swapping a thick, cozy throw in the living room for a cooler cotton blend, pack up the warm, thick rugs and opt for a more natural option like jute, and trade out the comfy but heavy bed linens for some light, airy ones.

It's not our anniversary, birthday, father's day, or any special day. Just a reminder of how grateful I am to have a man like you . You push me to challenge myself more, tell me when I need to take a breath, and always come up with the best ideas. You're my favorite travel companion... you pause the movie 5 min into starting it so I can grab a snack...you say funny things with your dry humor all the time and it cracks me up. You love our kiddo so hard it's palpable. Love you Gilberto!! 😘

Kitchen inso from the lovely . I'm using this picture as an design for a kitchen remodel happening in 2023 - I love it because, not only does it show the pretty finishes and cabinetry, but it also reveals a story. This kitchen represents a life well lived. It captures that cozy feeling of cooking in the kitchen with family or friends and being completely filled with love and contentment. That is my ultimate goal when designing for clients - creating an inviting space and to feel all the vibey feels 🧡⁠

Heading into the weekend like… ✨

5️⃣ I remember knocking on this exact door as a child that was my grandparent’s front entrance. I really wanted to repurpose what I could from this barn that was once my Omi and Opi’s home for 40+ years. Sometimes I still smell the home baked bread that my Omi made for the morning ritual breakfast.

Design is a personal journey full of memories in the past and future ones about to be made. How you honor those memories is where meaningful and beautiful design is created. 🧡

Setting up my kitchen just the way I like it… Okay, this isn’t MY kitchen. But the principals are the same. I want my kitchen to work for me, I want it ‘lived in’ without it feeling messy, I want cleaning to feel inspiring, I want my most used kitchenware accessible, and most of all, I want to surround myself with effortless beauty in a well designed kitchen. Is that too much to ask for? Nope. ;)

Love love LOVE how the new Hillside Cabin turned out for . Some of my favorite finishes are the white oak flooring, tall windows, and soft white walls. Very inviting if I do say so myself 🧡

My mom and I make a great decorating team. We’ve been doing it together since my childhood. This lady, aka my mother, has styling and decorating in her bones. It’s a skill set that is challenging and takes years to perfect. She is self taught since the 1980s, when magazines were saved in stacks on our book shelves and DIY wasn’t even a coined term yet. She’s just damn good at it 👌🏻 Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who inspires me most!
