As we head into the hottest months of the year, we want to remind everyone about the dangers of leaving pets in the car. Even with the windows cracked, temperatures can rise rapidly, putting your furry friends at serious risk of heatstroke and dehydration. ☀️🐾

Today, we celebrate the adorable, playful, and curious bundles of joy that bring so much love into our lives. Whether you're a proud kitten parent or just a feline fan, let's shower these little furballs with extra love and attention!

As we gather to celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, let's not forget our furry companions! Here are some tips to keep your pets safe and calm during the festivities:

🎇 Create a Safe Space: Make sure your pets have a quiet, comfortable place to retreat away from the noise.
🐶 Keep Them Indoors: Fireworks can be frightening for pets. Keep them indoors and secure windows and doors.
🐱 Update ID Tags: Ensure your pets' ID tags and microchip information are up to date, just in case they get scared and run off.
🐾 Avoid Fireworks: Never use fireworks around pets. They can cause severe burns and trauma.
🎆 Watch the BBQ: Be mindful of what your pets eat. Certain foods can be harmful to them.

Plants for Paisley Paws!

Northside's hospital manager, Brooke, has raised a variety of native plants that she's offering free with any donation to the clinic Paisley Paws Fund. Email Brooke at the clinic ([email protected]) or comment below for more information!

Our Paisley Paws Fund allows us to offer life-saving emergency treatment to patients in cases where care could otherwise not be afforded.

Shrubby St. John's Wort (Hypericum proloficum)- A deciduous shrub that likes full sun or part shade and does well in most soil conditions. Produces LOTS of bright yellow flowers that attract various bees and other pollinators mid-summer. Will take a couple of years to mature before flowering. Can grow to 4-5 feet tall.

Wild Petunia (Ruellia humilis)- Prefers full sun and medium to medium-dry soil. Lovely purple flowers attract a variety of pollinators. It can be a little aggressive and would make a beautiful ground cover. 12 inches tall.

Pussytoes (Antennaria plantaginifolia)-Does well in full sun or part shade and medium to dry soil. Grows to about 12 inches, has fuzzy leaves and produces cute little white flowers in late spring. It's a larval host for the American Painted Lady butterfly!

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten. Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day!

In observance of Memorial Day, our hospital will be closed on Monday 5/27. We will reopen with regular business hours on Tuesday 5/28.

Warmer weather means BBQ season is here! While BBQs are fun for humans, they can pose hidden dangers for your pets. Remember to keep your pets safe this summer by keeping them away from hot grills, food scraps, and bones. Enjoy the BBQ season responsibly! 🐾🌭
