Our Family Series is a free program in community centers around Madison that offers an opportunity for families with kids of all ages to explore classical music. The performance teaches children about the orchestra and different musical concepts. They get to enjoy the sounds of live music while forming an emotional connection, creating lifelong music lovers.

Steven Wilke is a dual-degree graduate of Northwestern University. During his studies, he served as concertmaster of the Northwestern University Chamber Orchestra, played viola in Northwestern’s Chamber Music program, and was awarded the Presser Scholar award by the Bienen School of Music for musical and academic accomplishments.

Madison area students are exposed to the magic of classical music with our youth concerts. Presented in Capitol Theater during the school day, these field trips offer a musical experience but also meets curriculum standards in Music, Language Arts, Social Studies, and even Science.

Since 2006, WCO partners with Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras for the Biennial Side by Side Project. A day of rehearsals and mentoring culminates in a performance at Hamel Music Center. By playing alongside WCO musicians, students gain invaluable experiences, enhancing musical skills and fostering a love for the arts.

Violinist Gilles Apap joins chamber orchestra for a magical finale Under the baton of Andrew Sewell, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra's final Masterworks performance was a grand gesture to culminate a successful season.

Based on a British poem from 1880s about an English skylark, Vaughn Williams wrote The Lark Ascending as a duet for violin and piano, later arranging it for a full orchestra. The dynamic piece emulates the lark in both musical and technical aspects. See the WCO musicians along with soloist Gilles Apap perform this piece on April 19.
