The magic that is Jason Anderson is soon upon us! But this time, he joins us for a 2-night "residency," performing Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 18 and 19th at 7 p.m. both nights. Each night will be totally unique: two different shows, one great feeling of awesomeness! Many of you have experienced Jason before, but for those of you who have not, read on!

New Hampshire born, New Brunswick based, Jason Anderson is an award-winning indie folk artist whose work is as anthemic as it is affecting. Personal and passionate, Anderson's music crackles with life. A poignant writer and consummate showman, Jason’s songs are keenly-observed snapshots of emotion and experience, while his electrifying concerts celebrate the power of the here and now—both invitation and conversation, reflection and release.

First Light is the most recent album from Jason Anderson. Released in October 2022 on Salinas Records, the full-length record pairs Anderson’s soaring melodies with the atmospheric production work of Thomas Wincek. Wincek, known for his work with Wisconsin stalwarts such as Volcano Choir, All Tiny Creatures, and Field Report, was an inspired fit to produce, taking Jason’s material to beautifully pastoral places. Recorded in Middleton and Milwaukee, the record is steeped in Wisconsin.

This will be two special evenings. Beer and wine available. Donations requested.

If it’s on the chalk board, it must be so: we’ve extended our hours! We’re now staying open ‘til 6 p.m. every day. Not quite back to our pre-pandemic hours—-but getting closer. Baby steps.

To make a truly memorable oat milk latte, a Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind. (May the 4th be with you.)

Hello friends! Just wanting to let you know that we will be closed Tuesday, January 11 and Wednesday, January 12 for some work on our countertops. Sorry for any inconvenience! See you on Thursday!

OK, we will refrain from our annual announcement of our Turkey Giblet Latte this year. Instead, we offer you: our Turkey Giblet Cortado! All "fowl" humor aside (groan), we do have special holiday hours to announce: Weds. (11/24) 7-3; Thurs. (11/25) CLOSED; and Fri. (11/26) CLOSED. We will open back up to our regular hours this Saturday, 11/27. Gobble gobble!

Hey kids of all ages, it’s Grasshopper Day today! We’re celebrating throughout the weekend. Stop by and have a grasshopper waffle and enter our coloring contest to win a $20 Indie card. Meet Gary Grasshopper. As the legend goes, if he spits by noon, we’ll have six more weeks of summer. And guess what, we get six more weeks of summer! Join us on the patio tomorrow Sunday at 1:00 p.m to hear our very own Grasshopper Lady (Terri Gregory) read the famous Aesop fable and talk about Wisconsin grasshoppers. Bring the kids. It’ll be a hoot!

08/14/2021

Welcome back, mugs! And plates and real silverware! In our baby-stepped plan to reopen for dining in, we are now using real wares for our table service on the patio. And now you can walk right through the cafe to get to the patio. Next week, we will open for dining inside in a limited capacity. For now, we are still wearing our masks and ask you do the same while inside! It won’t be long until the old normal replaces the new normal, creating a new new normal. Wow, that was wordy!

As a fan of the majestic monarch butterfly, we have planted two varieties of milkweed near our little library, thanks to a wonderful program from Olbrich Gardens. These little guys were grown from seed, and their new home is on either side of our spirea bush. All you milkweed nerds probably already know this, but the one on the left is the whorled milkweed (Asclepias vertcillata) and the one on the right is the showy milkweed (asclepias speciosa torr), obviously. Yay butterflies!

05/17/2021

In a huge move, we have added four chairs to our patio! And in a few days, we’re going to allow people to actually walk through the coffee shop to get to the patio! Baby steps, right? Our entire staff is now fully vaccinated, and we’re working to get the inside space ready for dining in. Can’t wait to have you all back! Stay tuned!

03/15/2021

Brrrrrrr! It’s a perfect day to order an afternoon waffle and a mocha, wait in your car, and listen for your name to be called on our loudspeaker! Stay cozy!

03/12/2021

Soon...hopefully!

03/10/2021

Happy Mario Day! To celebrate, we are offering the “Rainbow Road,” a sweet, creamy, strawberry-cherry-vanilla shake topped with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles! So jump up, superstar, and come on down to Indie for a sweet treat!

02/18/2021

Driving? Look for the orange cone to find a clear way to our door. Cold? Stay in your car and place your order at www.shopindiecoffee.com (or place your order before you come). You will receive a text when your order is ready. If you open your window a bit, you’ll hear your name on our loudspeaker. How easy is that to get a hot creamy mocha and a bacon egg and cheddar?
