The UW-Madison School of Education consistently ranks among the top schools of education in the nation. UW-Madison has offered teacher education since 1848 and the School of Education was formally established in 1930. The School houses 10 academic departments:

Before the academic year began, we made time for a little celebration at the annual Welcome Back Bash. Faculty and staff gathered at the Memorial Union to enjoy lunch and reconnect. We welcomed Dean Marcelle Haddix, as well as new faculty and staff.

The School of Education is introducing a new nine-credit graduate certificate program in Education Law and Civil Rights! The program is aimed at equipping aspiring school leaders and others with the expertise to navigate and address legal issues that arise within the education system.

Dean Marcelle Haddix spent Wednesday up in the Chippewa Valley as part of University of Wisconsin-Madison's 175th anniversary tour to the region that includes Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls.
It started with a live interview on WEAU-TV’s “Hello Wisconsin” morning show, with Dean Haddix discussing our amazing Teacher Pledge program. She then spent the day meeting with a range of education and state leaders before attending the big event at the Leinie Lodge.
Students who major in our Rehabilitation Psychology program – our ninth – are interested in helping individuals with disabilities overcome barriers in their daily life. To help with this outcome, students take a required internship that gives them valuable, real-world experiences.

Housed within the UW-Madison Department of Kinesiology, this program develops professionals who transform physical education into a powerful experience for people of all ages.
