Nearly 30 firefighters and EMTs from the Maple Bluff Fire Rescue Department and the Monona Fire Dept spent Saturday morning training at the Madison College EMS & Fire live burn facility. Firefighters conducted fire attack and search & rescue scenarios, as well as practiced foreground radio communications.

Our departments train together to help build familiarity amongst crews and learn new techniques. We also provide automatic aid services between our communities for various types of emergency incidents.

Sirens | Dane County Emergency Management 05/08/2024

MONTHLY SIREN TEST MOVED TO TODAY – WEDNESDAY MAY 8TH, 2024

Dane County Emergency Management will be conducting the monthly test of the Outdoor Warning Sirens this Wednesday, May 8th, at 12 noon, unless there is an immediate threat for severe weather for Dane County. The sirens will be sounded for the typical three minutes. The past two monthly tests of the Outdoor Warning Sirens were cancelled due to active winter weather and a time-critical emergency incident in progress during the regularly scheduled monthly test time. The Outdoor Warning Sirens are typically tested on the first Wednesday of the month at 12 noon. Two severe weather events have caused activation of the system this year, so far, and we have full confidence in the newly installed Federal Signal system. With severe weather season upon us, Dane County Emergency Management believes a full test of the system is important to ensure the whole county-wide system is functioning without issue.

Dane County Emergency Management is committed to maintaining a reliable Outdoor Warning System. For questions regarding our Outdoor Warning Sirens, or to report an issue with a siren near you, please give us a call at 608-266-4330 during normal business hours. Be sure to also visit our webpage at https://em.countyofdane.com/notification-system/sirens to learn more.
