On June 14, 2009, Trooper Jorge Dimas, 23 years of age and an 11-month veteran of the Wisconsin State Patrol made the ultimate sacrifice when he lost his life due to injuries he sustained in the line of duty while working traffic patrol in Polk County.
Trooper Dimas was seriously injured on May 9, 2009, when the patrol vehicle he was operating was struck by another vehicle as he was in the process of initiating a traffic stop.
44 years ago today, Trooper Gary Powless, a one-year veteran with the Wisconsin State Patrol, was killed in the line of duty. Trooper Powless died as a result of injuries sustained when the his patrol vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer that lost control after suffering an equipment failure. Trooper Powless will never be forgotten; we will continue to carry him with us every day.

On this day in 1993 Trooper William Schoenberger died in the line of duty. Trooper Schoenberger was killed when his cruiser was struck from behind by a commercial motor vehicle while he was assisting at the scene of a vehicle fire. Though it has been 31 years since Trooper Schoenberger's death, we continue to carry him with us every day.
It has been 7 years since Trooper Anthony Borostowski lost his life in the line of duty. Trooper Borostowski was 34 years old and a two and one-half year veteran of the WSP. On April 11, 2017, Trooper Borostowski died when he was involved in a motor vehicle crash while on patrol on the interstate in Sauk County.
We carry Trooper Borostowski with us every day and his memory will live on in us.
Nine years ago today Trooper Trevor Casper made the ultimate sacrifice when he died in the line of duty while trying to apprehend an armed robbery and murder suspect. The suspect opened fire on Trooper Casper wounding him. Trooper Casper returned fire and killed the suspect. Trooper Casper ultimately succumbed to his injuries. A 21-year-old, eight-month veteran of the WSP, Trooper Casper was a true hero who died protecting the community he lived in and served. We carry him with us every day and he will never be forgotten.
