"Marian Breland Bailey (1920-2001) was a pioneer of humane animal training. She studied under B. F. Skinner and went on to build the program that would be the influnce the development of Clicker Training. Her company, Animal Behavior Enterprises, showed the success of positive reinforcement training for animal actors, zoo animals, and dolphin shows.

With a foundation based on the principles established in Clicker Training, Rebecca uses positive reinforcement training to build an active, playful relationship between dogs and handlers in the FUN-gility classes. Her own dogs, Moxie and Ever, are currently competing in agility."

With over 25 years devoted to dog training and a lifelong career as a classical musician, I've discovered that passion transcends age barriers. Whether I'm teaching, competing, or performing, my enthusiasm remains steadfast. From the challenge of communicating and training dogs—partners who don't inherently understand human language—for competitions spanning conformation, agility, obedience, and rally, to refining my skills on the French Horn and Alphorn, each pursuit fuels my sense of purpose and sparks my creativity. Even in moments of respite, I find fulfillment in diverse endeavors, such as translating Swiss German and recently publishing my inaugural book. Brown's words serve as a constant reminder that growth and new opportunities are perpetually within reach, motivating me to chase my aspirations and make meaningful contributions to the world."

⭐️Deanna Marks teaches wonderful class at The Fundamental Dog

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less” - Marie Curie 🧪🥼👩‍🔬 , 1st woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize (1903) and the 1st person to win a Nobel Peace Prize twice (1911).

For me, this Marie Curie quote is so applicable because of my love for science and math. My non-dog background is mechanical engineering, but it speaks so much about the world 🌎 and our dogs 🐶 too. The better we can understand our family/friends/dogs, the more peaceful all of our lives will become ✌🏼🕊️

My name is Deanna Marks. I have been a dog trainer for almost a year now and active in dog sports for 2 years. I have a dog named Kona who came from a rescue in Dallas (BCSave). Kona was found at a highway rest stop in Oklahoma a few weeks after New Years Eve 🎆🎇

When we first got Kona, she was different than any dog we’d ever had. She was car reactive 🚗, noise reactive 📢 , and generally not well socialized 💥. Working through her fears, and accelerating past them with her, has made me the dog trainer I am today. Kona now has 7 titles 🏆, in various AKC sports, and we absolutely adore living with her. We also have two cats 🐈 🐈and are not quite ready to expand the pack yet, but maybe soon!

Through my training journey I’ve LOVED using “Place” and teaching “Place” in our Basic Manners courses @ Fundamental Dog. This cue has been so powerful for me in working with my dog and others. To me, it’s “the one thing your dog should know.” 🧠

We had a great time at the super sniffer nosework trial last weekend in Katy.
Rita sniffed out the things super quick resulting in 5 out of 6 Qs in both trials!! She was awarded ribbons of several colors!!!!
There were also some great Kodak moments with Rita and friends !!
