One of the main reasons is the necessity to focus. 🎥 The camera forces you to pay attention all the time. What zoom helps with is an extreme focus.

🎨 A good tango is like a work of art. Something to be marveled at, admired, respected, and enriched by certain traditions embedded in it.

💃🕺 Argentine Tango is an art that anyone can master, with a little practice and coordination. Whether you want to impress a partner, keep fit and dance at the same time, or just explore fun and rewarding hobby, the tango could well be for you. Dancing the tango can even become a spiritual experience.

🎭 If you are not practicing the tango yourself, it can be sumptuous and sensual to watch, in-person and on-screen. There is an elegance and beauty about two people so completely in sync with each other, moving as one and yet in a vibrant and exciting way, it is hard not to be drawn in. That connection is something often explored on the big screen too.

🔗 But think about that - when you go to learn to play the piano - you first need to know 🎶 do re mi fa so la 🎶 and how to make your fingers 🎹 reach the keys you want to reach - besides other things, of course.

🔗 If you decide to learn calligraphy or painting - they show you the brushes and how to hold them 🖌️🖌️🖌️. Then how to manipulate them to get different strokes - maybe light and smooth, perhaps heavy and a bit ragged. And much more.

🔗 If you want to add adornos - the first thing to practice is your balance, technique, and musicality. You need to be able to feel your own body and hear the music - so show me your ochos, and I propose you some adornos. If you need a leader to make an ocho - otherwise you fall, or your legs look like fishing rods 🎣 - there are other things to practice first.

When you are given something, in tango case, that might be energy or intention, you need to respond and give it back. ⚖️ The more you get, the more you need to give back. This is the common trick you know and use - and it also works in Tango. 💃🕺

Don't just take it and leave, or - don't get punched by the energy.

🤔 🕺 This happens when you are not paying attention. If both parties are not involved, the leader might attempt to push you around like a refrigerator, (we don't want that)...

🤔 💃 Or the follower starts taking the initiative and dancing around the pole, I mean a leader (we don't want that either).

We need both people actively participating in the dance, 💃🕺 continuously communicating, and adjusting based on non-verbal communication.

🎩 In Tango, when you invite someone onto the dance floor is like inviting them onto the ride on the magic carpet. First - it’s not just one dance, but 3 or 4, depending on the DJ and local customs.

🎩 The first dance is like a date. You meet someone for the first time and you learn about each other.

🎩 Then comes the second song. And now you know, or you think you know. Based on your assumption you braving into more involved movements, you look to taste more detailed flavors of the music, you might propose space for adornment, or maybe hear the counterproposal to your movement. Now you are a couple. Two people united in the pursued of the dance.

🎩 And then the 3rd song comes and now you are the seasoned couple. You no longer need the lengthy explanation. It seems like almost no lead is required and she responds with the step you exactly wished for. You read and feel the music together. You feel the upcoming explosion of the accent. You just know. You found someone who knows. Just like you do.

✨ 💃🕺✨ It might take a tanda. It might take a few tandas, It might take a milonga, it might take a few milongas. It might take years. Whatever it takes, it is a journey. On the way, you meet people who ‘just get it,’ ‘your people’. Your Tango circle.

👭 In many ways, they reflect the interchangeability of the roles that leaders and followers have, as both steps cannot be done successfully without the relationship and dynamics shared by both partners.

👬 The communicative power held by these shifts in position is based on trust — trust that a leader can follow and that a follower can lead.

Within the Milonga or Practica, the Ronda usually travels around the dance floor counterclockwise.

🎤 I say USUALLY because I've also seen the setup where people danced with one front, in line, on-stage-like.

But, in most circumstances - the Tango moves around the dance floor.

📝 There are codigos and rules and local habits, but I think it is good to consider all available points of view and choose the one that fits the situation.

👉 It's like they say - when in Boston, act like a Bostonian. Or was it Rome?

💃🕺 We suggest one possible solution - placing the couple at 45 degrees in reference to the LOD (Line of Dance).

That helps the navigation, slows the couple down, and enables the Leader to present the follower in the most favorable light.
