Audition for Mozart’s The Magic Flute at Pepperdine, open to all students! Auditions are September 3 from 1-6pm in Smothers Theatre. Callbacks are September 6, 4-6pm, and rehearsals start September 10. Prepare two contrasting songs/arias and a 1-2 minute monologue. German repertoire and songs from The Magic Flute are encouraged. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this whimsical opera classic! 🎶

9 to 5 auditions are being held on August 21st and 22nd from 5:30-10:30pm! 🎶🎭 Sign up for a slot on the call board backstage in Smothers Theatre. Please prepare 16-32 bars of two contrasting songs, including one from the Golden Age (1945-1960). Make sure to bring properly arranged sheet music and dress professionally—no casual footwear or shorts. Dance auditions are Friday, August 23rd, 6:30-10:30 pm, followed by reading auditions and potential callbacks. Saturday callbacks on August 24th, 10 am-4 pm, will involve prepared songs from the show, with possible additional readings. Be ready for anything! ⭐️

❗️Throwback Thursday❗️Earlier this semester, our students had to opportunity to masterclass with the wonderful Tasia Jungbauer! ⭐️ Tasia is a Pepperdine alum currently starring in Moulin Rouge on Broadway, and we were SO glad to have her back to share her wisdom and knowledge with our community.

Four of our musical theatre students, Hannah Sedlacek, Kaiya Treash, Jamison Rosales, and Tessa Hemphill worked with Tasia in her Masterclass, and the rest of our students were invited to her Q&A! It was a really inspiring experience, and we are so grateful for her time. ✨

The Pepperdine University Guitar Department presents a concert featuring current students studying with Distinguished Professor of Music Christopher Parkening on the second Tuesday of every month during the Fall and Spring semesters. These concerts feature guitarists performing masterpieces from the classical guitar literature spanning six centuries and including composers from around the world.

This month’s recital will take place on Tuesday, March 12 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Surfboard Room of the Payson Library on the Pepperdine Campus, 24255 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90263. All concerts are free and open to the general public. For more information contact [email protected].

What an incredible opportunity! We are excited about this collaboration focusing on "the aesthetic musical contributions of African Americans in the U.S.—mixed with socio-historical context, Carr says. The course starts by looking at slavery and ventures all the way up to modern day hip-hop."

Saturday night-Stewart Copeland's SATAN'S FALL! Classical music collides with metal and jazz in an edgy depiction of the battle between heaven and hell. Complete with lighting design, projected images of historical art pieces and an extraordinary lineup of musicians, this is like nothing you've seen and heard before. Also on hand--the art department's mobile art truck showcasing a curated exhibit of student art, poetry, essays, and more on the themes of PARADISE LOST. We hope you'll join us!
