How do we achieve long healthy hair?

There are so many misconceptions about growing long, healthy hair from only cutting your hair once a year to excessive amounts of Biotin. But truth be told, the secret to growing long healthy hair is a smart hair care routine.

1. Get frequent trims — yes, really

While this idea may seem completely counterintuitive, our stylists have been professionally trained on the makeup of hair care and frequent trims are a must if you want your locks not only long but healthy. No one likes stringy, damaged hair, even if it’s long. While frequent trims won’t actually make your hair grow faster, it will get rid of the split ends that cause your hair to break off in time.

2. Resist the urge to go blonde

As gorgeous and trendy any shade of blonde is this year, we do not recommend going from a darker shade to a lighter shade if you are looking to grow out your hair. Each time you apply bleach to your hair cuticles, you are damaging the existing health of your hair and increasing your risk for split ends.

3. Distribute your hair’s natural oils

We know how difficult it is to find the energy to brush your hair before bed, but, if you go through your hair with a few quick strokes before hitting the hay, you can increase your hair’s health. We recommend using a boar bristle brush to evenly distribute your hair’s oils down the shaft and to the ends of your hair.
This simple step to your nightly routine will increase the circulation to your scalp resulting in a healthier scalp. Scalp health is important for maintaining the health of your hair.

4. Eat the right foods

Having beautiful, long hair isn’t just about the products you use on your hair but also what you are putting into your body. If you want to promote hair growth, you are going to want to begin feeding your hair from the inside out. To increase the proteins in your hair, up your protein intake by eating foods like fish, beans, nuts, and whole grains.

5. Be Careful When You Brush Wet Hair

Your hair is super susceptible to breakage when it’s wet, but if you absolutely have to get out some stubborn knots, we recommend using a brush that will be easy on your ends. Begin by gently brushing from the ends and gradually work your way up. And don’t just brush the top layer — brush the hair underneath as well.

For some people, growing gorgeous long locks just happens naturally but for the rest of us, changing up our daily hair care routine is necessary to achieve the same results.
