Department History:
Up until 1970 the Township of Manalapan had police services provided by the New Jersey State Police. In April of 1970 Thomas Wallace was appointed as the first Full-Time Chief of Police in Manalapan Township. The Manalapan Township Police Department has officially opened our hiring process for the positions of full-time & SLEO II police officers. Minimum qualifications include: Must be a citizen of the United States; Must be a resident of the State of New Jersey at the time of employment; Must be at least 18 years of age; Must be able read, write and speak the English language. Must be sound in body and of good health and be able to perform the physical functions of the duties assigned; Must be of good moral character and shall not have been convicted of any crime or offense involving moral turpitude or dishonesty that would make him/her unfit to perform the duties of police officer; A minimum of 60 college credits or honorable military service.

Join the Manalapan Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 9:00 am-3:00 pm for the 7th Annual Train Show at the Manalapan Community Center 114 Rt. 33 West. Donations collected will support programs for veterans.
