"...blends a selection of chardonnay and chenin with a little pinot noir to create this blend. Vinified in stainless steel, it gets its fine bubbles from a second fermentation in bottle, where it rests for a year before disgorgement. It’s full-bodied and creamy, with fine bubbles carrying fresh red-berry flavors, notes of green apple and herbs underlining its vivacity. This would be good on its own, as it would be with grilled salmon."

Located in the Stellenbosch region, Spier is one of South Africa’s oldest family-owned wine farms dating back to 1692. As part of their diverse, acclaimed portfolio, they produce noteworthy Pinotage vintages. Pinotage is a cross between pinot noir and cinsault grapes. Spier's vineyard consists of trellised vines planted between 20 and 22 years ago on northeastern slopes.

It was a record year for the number of wines tasted and for us an amazing recognition to win a Platinum Medal for our Techni Alipias Red.
