Sometimes people come in and ask if they can wear a swimsuit when they float. When we say that we prefer that you don't - and we recommend that you don't - they ask why we show pictures of people floating while wearing swimsuits on our social media.

Um. Because we can't show the alternative, you all. 😉😆

In all seriousness, floating can be so much better without restrictive spandex crawling all up in the wrong spots, getting covered in salt water that starts to get itchy when it dries on the fabric, and causing constant distractions.

For the safety, privacy and enjoyment of my clients, I want to let y'all know that SomaFlowt by Esther has passed the LA State Board of Massage Therapy inspection with flying colors.

But what exactly does the board do besides charging quite a bit of money for a license?

Well, they make sure the establishment facilities are clean and compliant with the health department guidelines; that laundry is sanitized and cleaned thoroughly; that the client's information is kept private and that clinical records or SOAP notes are updated and kept for at least 5 years, etc.

The LABMT also provides an updated directory of all the colleagues statewide with their preferred modalities and information for you to find the right massage therapist for you.

It not only makes us comply with a bunch of stuff for your protection, but is also working to help protect the reputation of us Massage Therapists (please, DO NOT call us 'masseuses,' it has a pejorative connotation within the industry and abroad), they are going after the Chinese massage parlors which are nothing but brothels, prostitution centers and s*x trafficking networks. I know they don't seem to do much about this aspect but the inspector told me that the more we report these places, the harder it will be for them to reopen in a different location because it costs money. So help me in the fight against s*x trafficking and illegal prostitution by reporting these places time and time again. For the sake of our community! And if you are using these places.... no comment.
