I want to take some time to explain how these Hoja pop-ups will be in regards to the inventory!
Each pop-up will have a different style and every time the pots, plants & color schemes will be different! In addition I will focusing on bringing you unique pots and rare & upcoming houseplants at affordable prices!
Thursday cannot come soon enough!
Here are those details I promised! I’m super excited to be able to do a Pop-Up with my friend Sarah at MHK Vintage! She is an amazing designer, coolest vintage ever finder & just a great gal! AND guess what else? She is actually going to be making the tiny corner of Hoja her spot for regular Pop-Ups! There may be a few that I am not involved in but one day at a time!
ATTENTION SMELLY BITCH & HOJA NEEM OIL LOVERS :
If you have a bottle and you want a refill this will be the time to do it, I won’t be offering refills at every pop-up!
Smelly b refills are $10 and neem refills are $12 😉
Ok well here we are almost March and WOW did that time fly! As you all know I took some time to myself and reevaluated my time & priorities and the one thing I know is that I cannot open Hoja on a normal schedule & weekly basis…it just doesn’t fit! Sadly because of that I will no longer have on tap 🥹 It has been a pleasure serving up your fills for the last 4.5 years!
So what am I doing? Good question 😂
I don’t really know BUT I do know that I miss you all very much and I miss the planties so Hoja isn’t going anywhere but actually going everywhere!
The new Hoja for now will be pop-ups. Whether it is at the shop on Juliette or Dusty Bookshelf (stay tuned for details on first event but mark your calendars for March 30th) or other local businesses, the best part is at these pop-ups I can guarantee you days & times that I will be there! Bringing Hoja back to what it began as…a space for us to interact as a community and enjoy the love of plants together! Whether that space be mine or someone else’s! Get ready for those big hugs and good conversations!
So when is the first one? Well…MHK Vintage & Hoja will be having a pop-up together Thursday, March 7-Saturday, March 9! Details coming tomorrow!
Thank you all so much for waiting for me and I cannot wait to see you next week!!! ✌️❤️🪴
I cannot say this enough! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Thank you for shopping with me last weekend! What a great time! It was so amazing to see you all! And WOW did you clear that place out! So again…thank you!
Thank you for the hugs, well wishes and most importantly THANK YOU for supporting my decision to take some time for me!!!
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and I’ll see you in 2024🥳
IT’S NOT GOODBYE, IT’S SEE YOU LATER…
I’m not sure how to say this any other way but I need to lighten my load!
As many of you know I am currently boss bitchin’ two businesses, two kids, one recovery, one marriage, a puppy and a partridge in a f-ing pear tree.
What’s missing from the list? ME!
And so with that said I have decided to close Hoja for the winter(ish) season.
Beginning Saturday November 18th and planning to return March 1, 2024!
I have come up with a list of FAQ’s but please reach out and let me know if you have any other questions!
You all mean so much to me and I am beyond grateful that you love this tiny plant shop as much as I do and I miss you already!!!
But of course in true Hoja fashion we will have one last blowout everything must go sale! So mark your calendars…
Thursday 11.16-Saturday 11.18
50% off entire store!
Not only does this give you a chance to come shop all the new holiday stuff and help me clear out plants but it also gives you a three day window to come give me a hug🤗
FAQ’s :
What am I going to do without Morning Light Kombucha? Luckily our friends over have 4 flavors on tap, you can also reach out to and they can help you locate your nearest filling location!
One reason I come in is to talk to you…what am I going to do without you? Well let’s face it, I haven’t been around much anyway and I don’t want to keep abandoning Hoja, I want to give her a little rest and it will give me some time to regroup and reimagine!
Is everything ok? Yes!!! I am fine and so is Hoja! This is a positive decision! Just a middle aged girl 😂🤦♀️ taking some time for myself and my family!
What about if I have a plant question or emergency? Don’t worry!I will still be available for ”planty” questions on Instagram and will post from time to time!
Mark your calendars! This Friday is Hoja’s 4th birthday and we are going to celebrate with a sale of course!
Friday & Saturday will be 40% off the ENTIRE STORE (excluding kombucha)!
Special hours :
Closed Wednesday & Thursday
Friday 10am-4pm
Saturday 9am-2pm (if you can’t make it Friday come in really quick before the game & I’ll hold your stuff until Monday for you )
Now for the mushy part…I have also tagged (see insta for tags) a bunch of women in this post. These are women who have offered their shoulders to cry on in times of doubt, who believed I was better than my addiction (if you don’t know I’m sober and I will tell you all about it and welcome you to come to me with any thoughts you may have about quitting, life after alcohol or a shoulder to cry on), shopped my store more than I can count and/or women who just make living in this community a better place! Thank you ladies for your continued support, friendship and genuine ❤️
Hope to see you this weekend!
Day 2 of the 50% off sale!
Open 10-3 or until I’m sold out!
From books to variegated string of hearts to spritzers…lots of new things to come check out!
See you Saturday!!!

Recently there was an article about Happy Hippie Aggieville in the Kansas State Collegian and here is my response. I am sharing because I cannot let negativity come between us small business owners and our dreams!
Dear Grace,
I would like to start by saying, WOW! 👏
You really do know how to show support to local small businesses and female entrepreneurs! And with that said I have a few questions for you…
Do you really think that in todays world when we have racial injustice, mass shootings weekly and a mental health crisis beyond repair that we need to purposely be spreading negativity?
Also did you know the 22 year old business woman owner of Happy Hippie opened the Aggieville location after only being open at her first location in Clay Center for 2 years?
Seems like something that should be praised in an article, don’t you?
Moving on let’s talk a little about comparing Happy Hippie to Public Hall. It is like comparing apples to oranges. Yes Public Hall was known for studying but just because it was doesn’t mean the next place has to? Last time I checked the business sets the tone. It is almost as silly as expecting the Alm’s Group to give eye exams because it was formerly an optometrist!
Also, making the assumption that they won’t make it much past the the hype is not only ridiculous but it’s down right mean!
First of all the success rate with a new small business is low and for a restaurant it is very low. Adding negativity only adds to this, especially in a small town where word of mouth can make or break you! Believe me, I know. I have had my shop, Hoja, for over 3 years now and the struggle is real, very real, we are nothing without our community’s support!
So in other words, I have to disagree with your prediction of the future of Happy Hippie.
Did you know that other people live in Manhattan who aren’t students and who don’t want to study? Just because it is in Aggieville doesn’t mean it has to be study friendly. I am personally ecstatic to have a place I can go where I am not having alcohol shoved down my throat, a place where I can go with my kids and not have to worry about them being a little loud because someone is studying beside us!
I hope that you find joy in your life so you are able to stop spreading negativity and start spreading peace and love ✌️
