We’re in the midst of storm season! Do you think you may have hail damage?
Our area recently got some very large hail. While most of the hail we get is small, sometimes we get the big stuff! With recent storms, there were reports of 3” and larger. Hail this size can do significant damage to your roof and the exterior of your home.

Common hail sizes and damage include, but are not limited to the following:

• 1” hail – Minor Damage - Commonly referred to as quarter sized, this can cause minor to moderate damage. There can be granule loss or small punctures to asphalt shingles.
• 1.75” hail - Moderate Damage – About the size of a golf ball. Hail this can size can crack shingles and cause major dents in metal roofs.
• 2.5” hail –Severe Damage - Tennis ball size - Asphalt shingles and metal roofs are likely to be severely damaged. Repairs or replacements are often needed.

Damage is also dependent on wind speeds and the density of the hailstones.

This photo would have been better on Sunday before the melt or 5 minutes earlier when the sun was still peeking over the horizon. Regardless, I couldn't resist stopping at the overlook on 177 for a photo. A nice young couple wanted me to take their photo in front of it and they were from Wisconsin, he said "we don't have sunsets like this in Wisconsin". While I suspect they do have them somewhere in Wisconsin, you can't deny we live in a beautiful part of America and probably take it for granted too often!

We have been blessed with some awesome weather in the month of November this year! Get out there and enjoy it while it lasts!

I hope all Americans will take a few minutes sometime today to reflect on this day in their own way. It was one of those acts that was so horrific and made such an impression on us that it will likely always feel fresh in our memory.
