🌟Meet our Kindergarten-1st Grade Teacher Peggy Dunkerly!🌟

📚What are you most looking forward to teaching this year at Transfiguration Orthodox Academy?
This school year, Peggy is most excited to work with the children in an outdoor environment, in order to give her students more opportunities to appreciate and explore God’s incredible world of nature! Peggy believes that it is vital to guide our students to walk on the right path, and feel God's love with every step.

❤️What would you love to share about you and your family?
Peggy Dunkerly graduated with a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin. Her teaching experience includes more than 25 years in private and public schools, ranging from PreK-Kindergarten to the 2nd grade. Peggy was a founding member of Holy Transfiguration and continues to be very dedicated to this parish.
Peggy feels blessed to have had the opportunity to teach our parish children in Catechism and Hellenic folk dance. She has also had leadership positions in our Metropolis & parish camps, and parish youth programs in all the age groups
In her free time, Peggy enjoys spending time with her husband Cedric, going for walks, exploring Atlanta and the North Georgia mountains, traveling (especially to Greece!), and participating in church activities. She enjoys spending time with her two daughters and their husbands, Katina and Rett, and Alayna and Chris.
Peggy's biggest accomplishment is raising two caring daughters, along with her husband Cedric. Both have chosen jobs that give back to society. Katina is a special education teacher and Alayna works in marketing for Habitat for Humanity.

📚What are you most looking forward to teaching this year at Transfiguration Orthodox Academy?
I am excited to learn new things along with the kids. Doing the experiments and seeing their reactions to the outcomes is my favorite.

❤️What would you love to share about your family?
I have two kids at TOA myself, so I am also a homeschooling mother. I love to play with photography, and I craft in my free time.
I am honored to be a teacher at TOA . It gives me purpose in life. I love the kids, and I love how they have all become one big close community of friends and family.

I feel so blessed to be working for the rest of the academic year on the new video series for Ancient Faith Kids and the workbooks to go with it. However, I will also try to keep adding new free lesson plans to the website when I am able. We just uploaded a new addition to the Holy Mysteries series we had started last year: Holy Unction. It is not a resource for the current season, but you can keep it in mind for later - or you can start a teaching unit on the Mysteries now! (we currently have material for an intro lesson to the Mysteries, Baptism, Chrismation, Confession, Communion, and Unction - hoping to complete the series in the next few months). As the Nativity Fast is coming up, don't forget to explore our page on fasting, our first Ancient Faith video on fasting, and the accompanying workbook, available at the Ancient Faith store and the Draw Near Designs Marketplace.
