For the mamas of girls, especially if they have thick or long hair:

If your daughter struggles with flaky scalp, it’s often from not scrubbing enough while they shower OR not fully rinsing out the shampoo and conditioner. This will cause build up over time, resulting in the flakes and dry patches.

When you notice it, mix baking soda and shampoo in your hand and then give them a good scrubbing of the scalp. Make sure to rinse it thoroughly. ☀️

Sonia Kooser became a member of the Bass family in 2014 and brought with her more than 15 years of experience in salons across the country, including Virginia Beach and Windsor, California. Her specialties include color techniques, including Ombre and Balyage, as well as men and women’s precision haircuts. She is certified in a variety of color lines and has received continuing education from Keune Hair Care, Schwarzkopf Hair Color, Redken and Pureology. When she’s not styling at the salon, you can find her traveling about with her husband.

Christy Keller joined us just after completing her education at Chattahoochee Technical college and has been with our team for more than 20 years. She is a master cosmetologist that is experienced in men and women’s precision haircuts, receiving additional education from Roffler Hair School. Christy has also received training from Paul Mitchell, Alterna, Keune and Schwarzkopf. She has a passion for helping women achieve their best look using a variety of color and highlighting techniques. She is also our salon specialist for all straightening services. Her favorite thing to do outside of the salon is watch her boys play on the field and court and keep up with her Crimson Tide.

Summer Sheldon graduated from Chattahoochee Technical College and joined the salon family in the fall of 2018. She’s completed additional training with Schwarzkopf color and specializes in a variety of color techniques, including ombre, balayage and color blocking. Recently, she expanded her salon training to include certification in men and women’s hair replacement. When she’s not styling clients, you can find her in the backyard spending time with her family and tending the chickens.

Mallori Hester has been a member of the Bass Team since 2009, joining us just after graduating from Roffler Hair College. With fifteen years experience in this industry, she is an expert in precision haircuts and color services. She has extensive training in Schwarzkopf color, and has completed additional classes with Keune, Surface Hair Care and F.H.I. Mallori enjoys getting to know her clients and helping them keep a look that works for their season of life. When she’s not behind the chair, you can find her chasing after her kiddos on the golf course, the ball field or anywhere else they might be. ✨

Amanda Storey joined the Bass team in the fall of 2022 with more than 25 years in the industry. She quickly became a beloved member of the family and became a salon partner at the beginning of this year. A graduate of Roffler Hair College, Amanda has extensive experience with precision haircuts and varying color and highlighting techniques. She’s completed training in hair replacement services and oversees all salon staff trainings. She loves helping clients achieve their desired look and customizing hair designs to accentuate their natural beauty. Making people feel the best version of themselves is her goal with each experience. When she isn’t bringing out the beauty in her clients or managing the salon, she loves traveling and spending time with her husband on the ball field.

Welcome to Bass Hair & Company!  While the name might be new, our ability to serve our community and meet the needs of our clients is not.  We’ve recently changed the name of the salon to mark the beginning of a new era.  We’ve partnered with a new owner so that we can bring you a fresh new experience while maintaining our reputation for excellence and quality.

Bass Hair & Company is now owned by Jerry Potts and Amanda Storey.  Jerry and Kim Potts originally purchased the salon from Dewey and Jean Bass back in the 1980’s, and took it from a small barber shop to the local salon name you’ve recognized for more than 30 years.  It’s grown to a team of more than 10 employees that work together to help meet your haircare needs.  The first location was in Smyrna, GA where the first name change went from Bass Barber Shop to Bass Styling Center.  Many of you may remember that place as fondly as we do!

In 1999, the salon was moved to the current location in Marietta and the name was changed to Bass Hair Salon.  It grew to fill the space we currently call home and we’ve been blessed to serve thousands of customers over the years. 

At the beginning of 2024, the partnership of what is known as Bass Hair & Company began and we couldn’t be more excited for all that will bring in the future!  Amanda Storey joined our salon in 2022 and quickly became loved by all.  While fairly new to our location, she is not new to the industry.  Amanda has more than 20 years of experience behind the chair and has been working with us over the past several months to learn the exciting world of salon business.  She has a heart to serve our clients and all the salon staff, and her goal is to help take the salon to the next level.

We are so excited to have Amanda join the leadership of the salon, and we hope that you will join us and welcoming in our new name! Be assured that our goals are to make sure your experience is better than ever, and that the services you receive will continue to exceed your expectations. Here’s to a new year!

How often should you wash your hair?

It depends on your hair and scalp. If it’s super oily, more frequent, but if you tend towards dry scalp, less is more. For most people, this will land them in the 2-3 times per week mark.

If you can’t stand the dampness on non-wash days, try a cap (you know, the kind your great grandma lovingly wore). It will protect your hair from the water and make it easier to fluff up.

If you need something to help hold it over an extra day, try a dry shampoo. They are made to absorb the extra oil from your scalp so you can protect your ends from over washing.
