President Biden has just announced action on student loans. The federal forbearance period has been extended through the end of 2022. Borrowers are eligible for up to $20K of loan forgiveness, based on types of loans and household income. If you qualify, watch for communication from your student loan servicer. Loan servicers are expected to roll out next steps in the coming weeks.

Federal student loans have been in automatic forbearance since last year, but that forbearance period is scheduled to end on September 30, 2021.
