Congratulations to our Football Program Director and Upper School Head Coach, Micah Hughes, on his selection as the 7th-grade All-State Game Head Coach for 2025. We are so proud of Coach Hughes and all that he has already accomplished in such a short time at MBCA, so it comes as no surprise to see his commitment and talent recognized. In only its second year, Coach Hughes has created a football program and culture at the Academy's Upper School that feels considerably more established - and with a record to match at 4-1.

"The growth from year one to year two has been tremendous," said Hughes. "What a testament to these kids and these coaches. Having total buy-in from the school and the administration has also been fantastic. Nobody really knew what to expect in only our second season, so this has been really fun."

On this day, we thank our first responders for their bravery and sacrifice, and we pause to pray for those still affected by the tremendous losses our nation suffered on September 11, 2001. We will never forget.

Science fun for all! As 8th-grade students dove right in to their foundations of chemistry unit, they invited some Lower School friends to join the fun. Together, they investigated a non-Newtonian substance, oobleck. Oobleck was popularized by the Dr. Seuess book "Bartholomew and the Oobleck.” Kindergarten students, who recently learned all about their five senses, helped make keen observations about the oobleck while enjoying both scientific and social connections!

How it started . . . and how it's going! Happy 10th birthday to our Upper School! We are blessed to start the 2024-2025 school year with our largest Upper School enrollment in MBCA history.

We are forever grateful to the Academy leadership, families, and students who supported us as we took that leap of faith in 2014, bringing Christ-centered high school education to East Cobb.

This evening, the Upper School will host Varsity football on our beautiful turf competition field, adjacent to the construction site of our 20,000 square-foot state-of-the-art student center.

Varsity Volleyball Earns Second Consecutive Team Academic Award

Congratulations to the MBCA varsity volleyball team for being honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with their second consecutive Team Academic Award. In addition, the team was selected for the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll for being in the top 20% academically of all high school volleyball teams nationwide! We are so proud of our volleyball eagles for their performance on the court AND in the classroom... way to go, ladies!

News from The Film Academy!
On June 28, Mr. Burton and some students from The Film Academy had the incredible experience of attending an actual Hollywood movie premiere at Trilith Studios.

They experienced the Hollywood press as they walked the red carpet for this formal, catered event, and after were able to watch the movie and listen to the cast and crew answer questions for the Sound of Hope: The Possum Trot Story movie premiere!

Best of luck to MBCA alumnus Josh Leerssen ‘20 and the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers as they prepare for Friday’s game one of the D3 College World Series.

The BSC baseball team’s story is truly remarkable. As BSC closes its doors on May 31, the baseball team continues to pursue a title for a school that will no longer exist. Josh and his teammates have found extra motivation to play for each other, and sports fans have found a storyline they can’t resist.
