Fat Hill Brewing

Fat Hill Brewing

FHB is a 100% locally owned 7-barrel craft brewery in the historic downtown of Mason City, Iowa. (http://www.fathillbrewing.com/tap-room/)

Fat Hill Brewing, a 7-barrel craft brewery, opened downtown Mason City this December. Its brewing facility and taproom in the long-vacant historic building at 17 N. Federal Avenue features sixteen taps, space for 140 patrons, and a variety of live music and special events. Fat Hill Brewing got its name after we realized Cerro Gordo means Fat Hill in English. We wanted a name that would have a spec

Come to the brewery this weekend to blow off some steam! We have two awesome musicians with chill vibes and the beer is cold and plentiful. Have an Autumn Bock, watch the leaves drop, and take a deep breath or two. Here's the plan:

🍻

Friday, 7 pm - 10 pm
Jeremy Jewell Music
Jeremy Jewell is a southern Minnesota based musician, a staple of the Rochester music scene who entertains with vocals, guitar, blowing harp, and foot percussion. He performs both original and cover music in a vintage folk style a la Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Band etc. You’ll see him gigging around the midwest solo and with the groups Hair of the Dog and Calling Dinosaurs, another favorite at Fat Hill.

🍻

Saturday, 5 pm - 8 pm
Avion Azul - At the Airport Food Truck
Avion Azul, popular at its restaurant location at the airport (currently looking for a new home), is bringing their food truck downtown on Saturday to delight your tastebuds. Expect to find all your favorite Mexican foods on the menu! The truck will be parked across the street from Fat Hill by City Hall.

🍻

Saturday, 7 pm - 10 pm
MoeDeLL
Originally hailing from southern Virginia, MoeDeLL is known for his guitar picking style, poetic lyrics, and unique voice all tied to the bluesy rolling rhythms of his homeland. Once described as having “a rock sound but a country vibe,” he’s released five studio albums, the most recent of which was 2021’s Ain’t That Something. This seasoned and prolific performer was nominated for Songwriter of the Year and Americana Artist of the Year for the 2020 Midwest Country Music Association Awards.

Our Story

Fat Hill Brewing is a 100% locally owned 7-barrel craft brewery that opened in Mason City in December 2016. Our brewing facility and taproom in the long-vacant historic building at 17 N. Federal Avenue features sixteen taps, space for 140 patrons, and a variety of live music and special events. We are so excited to be located in beautiful downtown Mason City!

The founders/owners of FHB are beer enthusiasts Jake Rajewsky and Molly Angstman, a husband-and-wife duo. Jake serves as brewer/GM and Molly is our marketing and events manager. They both love serving beer and chatting to customers so you'll see them working behind the bar quite a bit too. Other faces you'll see at the brewery include our fabulous staff: Taylor, Tim, Bill, McKenzie, Zach C., and Zach T. We have a great team here and are so proud/humbled that they all want to work with us.

We've been thrilled with the response to our beer so far. We've made over thirty different styles since we open and are pretty proud of each one. Our flagship beers include our Blonde Ale, American Wheat, Robust Porter, IPA, and Scottish Ale. Some seasonal favorites have been our Rongo Rongo New England Style IPA, Oktoberfest, Dopplebock, Barggot, and Hibisucus Saison. The taproom sells pints, flights, crowlers, growler fills, and kegs on request.

Our taproom attracts a big variety of people in part because we try to keep our calendar very busy. Some of our past special events include a flower arranging work shop, wreath making, speed friending, tarot card readings, string art, origami, coloring book nights, food pairings, and craft beer classes. We also have several regular monthly meet-ups, including a book club, a writing group, a knitting club, and a bottle share.
