During Women's history month every Wednesday I will highlight women that have either played an important part in my life or in others.

I will start this series with my mother, who was not only a loving parent but also a powerful role model. She instilled in me the values of strength and independence, emphasizing the importance of hard work to achieve my dreams. She never wanted me to follow in her footsteps working in factories, so she pushed me to graduate high school and encouraged me to aim higher. She reminded me that being born in the United States meant endless possibilities, and opportunities and she instilled in me the belief that I could achieve anything.

I miss my mother deeply, but I'm grateful that she was my guiding light. She taught me resilience, the art of dreaming big, and how to be an exceptional mother and woman. For all these lessons, I'm profoundly thankful to my mom Delta Santiago.

Hola/Hello - Today I wanted to check in on you and see how you are doing?

I will say that this morning has been a rough one for me because I show up for my business, but it feels like no one else sees me. Even though it feels like I am talking to myself I will continue to show up because eventually the busy professional woman that is seeking versatile clothes that transitions between everyday and work will find me. Till she finds me I will continue to build my business and work behind the scenes.

So today is National Read Across America day. If you know me you know that reading is not one of my strengths but I’m trying to do better.

However, the last book that captured my attention and I read it all (does not happen often) was Fear is my Homeboy. This book is a motivational book that talks about how we let fear sabotage our life and let it paralyze us. I got so many nuggets from this book, and recommend it if your self-doubt does not let you move forward.
