How is Shands different? Let’s count the ways!!
1. We practice dictionary skills daily. The practice promotes skills in sequencing (Alphabetical order), vocabulary, and spelling
*Instead of asking, “What does that mean?” or “How do you spell it?” they go to their trusty dictionary and find the answer!
2. We encourage and practice handwriting and cursive writing. Being a good writer helps you to become a more effective speaker and communicator.
3. We practice verbal communication skills. (Learning how to be a good listener, promoting positive response techniques and initiating engaging conversation).
4. We have screen-free class time. We are virtually unplugged and work in real-time!
5. We focus on goals and progress rather than specific grade level.
