A huge thank you to our Digital Learning Department staff who presented a session on "Blackboard AI Design" at the Educational Technologies Academy!

In the session, attendees were shown how AI is revolutionizing the educational landscape, enhancing student engagement, and streamlining teaching processes.

The Digital Learning Department recently celebrated National Distance Learning Week. As part of the activities, staff members visited all of the campuses to meet with faculty and students. We are happy to announce the winner of our prize giveaway, Madeline Ramirez! Madeline is a Vocational Nursing student at our NAH campus. Presenting Madeline with her prizes is Johnny Gonzalez, Instructional Designer II for the Digital Learning Department (the hoodie is a handy thing to have on a chilly day like today!)

Congratulations to Hector Bazaldua, Course Development Specialist for the Digital Learning Department on completion of the Jaguar Academy! The Jaguar Academy engages new employees beyond the standard first day orientation and helps them connect to South Texas College’s Comprehensive Mission and become part of the STC family. Hector has been with the department for some time, starting as a Work Study and then Direct Wage employee and recently was hired full time in his current role.

Happy Halloween from the Digital Learning Department!

The South Texas College Library hosted the Library Summit for Dual Credit Librarians. The event was held at the Pecan Campus and our department was lucky enough to be asked to present. Daniel De Leon, Help Desk Specialist, and Hector Bazaldua, Course Development Specialist provided a general overview of the Blackboard Learning Management System to those in attendance. Thanks to Elizabeth Hollenbeck, Librarian III-Outreach and Initiative for inviting us to be a part of this!

“If you want your students to really interact with the material you present in class, give it a creative twist!” Join us as Dr. David Oakes discusses his use of the Zombie genre of films to encourage his students to dissect underlying themes, symbolism and character development to foster valuable analytical skills that extend beyond the classroom. And what better date to visit the realm of Zombies than Friday the 13th!

One of the reasons our department is so successful...Miguel Moreno, Student Success Specialist for the Distance Learning Department. Miguel is not only an accomplished employee, but is also having success as a student himself, having recently received his Masters degree in Educational Technology.
