This past weekend, we had to say goodbye to our summer intern, Aubrey! Aubrey was with us from mid-June, and she became such an integral part of the Faith Ministry team that we forgot she had to go back home. She was such a joy to work with, and we are looking forward to her return to Reynosa! We are praying for you, Aubrey!

PS. We thought we also said goodbye to Luis, but we can't seem to get rid of him; he's back for another week in Reynosa. 😉

July was a busy month! Not only did we host mission work groups and interns, but we attended our partner school's graduation and celebrated our own scholarship graduates!

Earlier this month, we celebrated our 53 scholarship students who graduated from their level of schooling this year!

We had one student graduate from kindergarten, 16 graduate from elementary school, 15 graduate from junior high, 15 graduate from high school, and six graduate from college -- what an achievement!

We celebrated our students both in Reynosa and Miguel Alemán (pictured here), and we are so proud of each of them for their accomplishment in their studies. Many students credit not only God and their parents for their success, but also the financial and emotional support of their sponsors, believing in them every step of the way.

With just one week left in the summer season, we had to say goodbye earlier this month to our college intern, Nelson. Nelson fit right into our Faith Ministry team, and he was a huge asset in assisting with groups! He developed great relationships with our staff and volunteers, and we can't wait to have him back to visit. Nelson, good luck to you as you start your college adenture!

What an AWESOME summer season! ☀️

8 houses, 5 groups, 70 volunteers of all ages. But more importantly, countless friendships formed and a shared spirit of Christ's love and unity that cannot be quantified.

To all who made our summer season so great, THANK YOU! We loved having you work side-by-side with us.

Roof day!

Today we poured the roof of Casa #9 for Vasquez Lopez family, which was provided by our friends at Shepherd of The Hills Presbyterian Church! This was made possible thanks to Myers Park United Methodist Church, who joined forces and worked together. Afterwards, we poured columns of Casa #12, Casa #13 and Casa #14.

Today, the group from Myers Park United Methodist Church started the day at the clinic to help with the children’s nutrition program and distributed grocery packages to families in our community. They then headed out to Casa #12, Casa #13 and Casa #14. We poured the columns. It was a great day and we can't wait to do another roof tomorrow!

Roof day!

Today we poured the roof of Casa #8 for the Gonzalez Martinez family, which was provided by our friends at First Presbyterian Church Fayetteville, NC. This was made possible thanks to Myers Park United Methodist Church! Afterwards, we laid the blocks and raised the walls of Casa #12 for the Cruz Hernandez family, Casa #13 for the Martinez Hernandez family and Casa #14 for the Garza Vázquez family.

Such a great start to the week with Myers Park United Methodist Church! Our first team finished the floor for Casa #12, did rebar, and prepared the roof for Casa #8. Our next team helped our children’s nutrition program, delivered groceries, and laid blocks for Casa #14. The rest of our group poured the floor for Casa #13. We’re so grateful for everyone’s hard work!

The Myers Park UMC Youth from Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC, has arrived! They’ll be wrapping up our summer season with us, building three houses, pouring two roofs, getting to know the community through delivering grocery packages and helping at the children’s nutrition program, and forming unforgettable friendships. We are excited for an awesome week!

We recently had to say goodbye to our year-long intern from the Berea Bible Institute in Monterrey, Bris. If you've been to work with us in Reynosa in the past year, you have met Bris and know what a bright and shining light she is. She has been a crucial part of our team this year, and we are so sad to see her go. Join us in praying for her as she continues on the journey that God is leading her on! We have no doubt He will keep doing amazing things through her.

On a positive note, we are excited to be welcoming two new interns from Berea for their "month in mission" in Reynosa. Stay tuned here to meet them!

Faith Ministry in Monterrey!

This weekend, we took our interns and some of our staff to Monterrey for the graduation at Instituto Bíblico Berea Monterrey. It's so cool to get to share in this partnership and see the wonderful work God is doing through Berea in its student body and graduates. God is good! 💚

We want to thank all who have reached out with prayers for our community regarding Hurricane Beryl. Thankfully for us, its path redirected, and it made landfall about 300 miles north of us between Corpus Christi and Galveston. It is unlikely that we will have any impacts from the storm along the border. Join us in praying for our brothers and sisters north of us as they endure the negative impacts of Beryl over the next few days.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Clayton Friends of FM! It has been a great blessing to have worked diligently throughout this week. Thanks to your unwavering efforts and dedication, we were able to construct Casa #11 for the Martell Morales family. Thanks to your contributions, this family will have a new roof. One house at a time, we are making it possible through the grace of God.

Today we poured the roof of Casa #7 for the Quiroz Pérez family, which was provided by our friends from First Presbyterian Church Fayetteville, NC! This was made possible thanks to the group Clayton Friends of FM. Afterwards, we laid the last two rows of blocks of Casa #11 for the Martell Morales family. It was truly a hot and sunny day, but with God's help, we finished the work and saw the families excited about the significant progress of this day.

Another great day here in Reynosa! We started off the day with the group Clayton Friends of FM at our medical clinic where we played with kids from the area and showed them how to make bracelets that explained the gospel. We followed that up by delivering groceries bags to local families, and we then poured the columns and ring for Casa #11 for the Martell Morales Family. The group and the volunteers then ended the day off with a bit of soccer at our Naranjito campus. It was amazing to see God at work through all the relationships that were formed today!

We are saddened to share the recent passing of one of our former staff, Benigno (Benny) Aguilar. Benny was one of our construction foremen in Miguel Alemán and was involved in the ministry for around 15 years. His bright smile and hard work ethic were a blessing to our team and the community.

We have been assisting his family with funeral expenses, and we ask that you join us in praying for them during this difficult time.

We had a wonderful day here in Reynosa with the team from Clayton friends of FM! They worked alongside our staff and volunteers to build the walls of Casa #11. It was an amazing day filled with progress and teamwork! We are grateful for the support of our friends and for the opportunity to make a difference, one house at a time.

Today was a great start to the week with our friends from Clayton Friends of FM here in Reynosa! We poured the floor of Casa #11 for the Martell Morales family and also worked on reinforcing bars to ensure a strong construction. It was a highly productive day where we advanced and completed several activities. But most importantly, we were able to share the love of God.

We are thrilled to have the group from Clayton Friends of FM in Reynosa with us this week! They will be building Casa #11, and this is their second time working with us, so join us in giving them a big Faith Ministry welcome!

Another successful Roof Day!

Today our friends from Christ Lutheran Church, the volunteers, and the staff poured the roof for Casa #5 for the Mendoza Razo family, which our friends from University Presbyterian Church built earlier this year! We followed that up by adding on the last two rows of blocks on Casa #10 for the Raquel Herrera family. It was an incredible day to see everyone come together to serve this community!

Today we started the day with our friends from the Community Center at the Clinic, where we played with our little friends. Then we visited the Naranjito area, especially the Community Center in that community. After that, we visited some people in the community, delivered groceries, and prayed for their needs. It was truly a great experience! In the afternoon, we poured the ring for Casa #10 for the Requena Herrera family. All of this was possible thanks to our friends from Christ Lutheran church!

Today we made so much progress on Casa #10 with our friends from Christ Lutheran church! After a day of hard work, we were able to raise the walls. It’s incredible to witness the community that comes together when we work towards a common goal!

Yesterday we celebrated the birthday of our stellar office manager and bookkeeper, Sandra! Sandra truly makes everything run smoothly in our McAllen office, and we are grateful for her and her dedication to the ministry. Feliz cumpleaños, Sandra! 🎉

Today was a great start to the week with our friends from the group Christ Lutheran from Charlotte, NC, who prepped and poured the floor of Casa #10 for the Requena Herrera family. They also worked on everyone’s favorite - rebar! Thanks to God, we continue to make a difference one house and one family at a time.
