A Toast to Dutch Bros! South Texas Health Children's, through The Auxiliary to South Texas Health System, has received a special donation from the Dutch Bros Coffee locations in Alamo and Harlingen. One that wouldn't have been possible without the community's support.

The two drive-thru coffee locations donated a portion of the funds raised during their Local Giveback Day program on December 15. As part of the program, $1 from every drink sold that day was donated to the auxiliary, the system’s non-profit affiliate which organizes recreational and educational activities for hospitalized patients at STHS Children’s and their families. In total, Dutch Bros donated just over $1,800.

Thank you, Dutch Bros Coffee, for supporting the Auxiliary’s efforts at STHS Children's. Your generous donation is sure to provide a much-needed perk to our pediatric patients through interactive activities and more!

Celebrating a Longtime Volunteer: South Texas Health System is committed to providing quality, compassionate care to our patients and their families in ways that go beyond the medical. That wouldn't be possible, in part, without the generosity of our volunteers who dedicate their time in and around our facilities.

This , would like to recognize the longest-serving volunteer with The Auxiliary to South Texas Health System, the hospital system’s nonprofit arm.

Lourdes Elizondo, 88, has served as a volunteer with the Auxiliary for 23 years. Originally, from Reynosa, she moved to the Valley to be with her children who lived here.

In 2000, she volunteered with the U.S. Census Bureau to encourage residents to complete the decennial survey. She enjoyed the interactions with people so much that she chose to continue volunteering by joining the Auxiliary that year.

“I really like the people,” Elizondo said of what motivates her to keep volunteering. “I love coming here.”

A big thank you, Lourdes, for your more than two decades of service to our patients. And thank you to all our volunteers for helping provide positive patient experiences at our facilities.
