🌟 Spotlight on NHPO Vice Chair: Herica Brondo 🌟
Herica Brondo is a dedicated individual with a diverse and impactful work history spanning various roles and industries, including retail, law enforcement, media, marketing, military, and education. With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a minor in Finance, and certification in nonprofit management, she is also working towards her MBA.

Married to retired Army SFC Jorge Brondo, Herica has a family deeply rooted in military service. With over 20 years in the nonprofit sector, she has been instrumental in creating and implementing services across four counties, always advocating for and supporting local nonprofits.

As the Vice Chair of NHPO-RGV, Herica has contributed her expertise and passion for community development to foster a network of professionals dedicated to empowering the Hispanic community in the Rio Grande Valley. Through her involvement, she has played a key role in promoting leadership, professional development, scholarship development, and advocacy.

🌟 Spotlight on NHPO Board Chairman: Omar Guevara 🌟

Omar Guevara is the General Manager of The Radisson Hotel in McAllen. He began his hotel career in June of 1986, after graduating from McAllen Memorial High School. Coincidentally, Omar’s career started at the very same location he works at today. Back then The Radisson was The McAllen Airport Hilton.

Omar’s career has allowed him to run hotels all over the State of Texas in cities such as San Antonio, Lubbock, Harlingen, Brownsville, and Laredo, to name a few. Omar has built, bought, taken over, and sold hotels in these cities. During a 2-year intermission from hotels, Omar was recruited by a corporation in Mexico to open a travel agency in Monterrey. He also worked 3 years for Global Tour Company, traveling all over Mexico and the USA as a bus driver/tour guide.

Upon returning to the Valley about 14 years ago, Omar began getting involved in the community. Serving on Boards such as Habitat for Humanity, Comfort House, Leadership McAllen, and NHPO-RGV. Omar has always been a very strong believer in helping in our community. His passion for volunteer work and helping those in need has given him the opportunity to reach out and bring resources together to continue to improve the quality of life for many families and organizations.

Omar knows that none of this could not happen without the incredible support of his wife, Norma. “They say behind every successful man is a great woman. My GREAT woman is always by my side. She is the reason I am able to do what I do.”

🌟 July Non-Profit Member Spotlight: Secret Santa Society 🌟

Secret Santa Society raises resources to support local charities and families in South Texas. Founded five years ago by an individual who wanted to brighten Christmas for underprivileged children, it has grown to support multiple schools in La Joya ISD, Valley View ISD, Hidalgo ISD, PSJA ISD, San Benito ISD, and IDEA Pharr.

Starting with just Christmas gifts, Secret Santa Society now also provides school supplies, uniform shirts, and sponsors families in need.
