Many of our patients ask us which type of prostheses are made in the clinic most often. Ears and noses are by far the most prevalent! Why might this be the case? We have found that our auricular patients have an extremely wide range of diagnoses (congenital, trauma, cancer, etc.), while our nasal patients are largely linked to cancers (mainly skin cancer).
Why do you think these are the most common in our practice?
Another amazing conference from the IAA! Allison and Ashley had the opportunity to display a poster outlining their hard work with Ophélie Puisségur. Big thank you to the Walter Spohn Trust for awarding us a grant that has allowed this project to proceed! Looking forward to next year’s conference 👁️👃🏻👂🏻
We are so excited about speaking at UT Southwestern Medical Center! Allison will get to share more about the patients that we work with and what our services do for them, as well as how Anaplastologists and physicians can collaborate on patient care.

What a difference 8 years can make! This patient’s microtic lobe had a vertical measurement increase of 10mm. That’s a 25% difference between the first cast and the second! 😱 The unaffected ear had a vertical measurement increase of 8.63mm which was a 14.9% increase from the original cast. This is why it is important to continually evaluate the fit and scale of the restoration throughout childhood and into adolescence.

Happy Monday!
It’s FriYAY! We make impressions fun!
Friendly reminder: Our furry friends do not understand why their humans dress up in scary costumes. Halloween can be a very stressful night for our dogs with the constant ringing of door bells and tiny unfamiliar children in strange costumes constantly appearing at their doorstep. We have had to make several prostheses for patients who have been bitten by canines on Halloween. Please be safe and keep your fur babies and neighbors in mind tonight! Happy Halloween everyone!
Playing with some different materials today 🤪
On the last day of Anaplastology month, we wanted to highlight the importance of seeing your dermatologist regularly. Many of our patients come to us after a cancer diagnosis needing our services. So excited that Hugh Jackman and People Health are emphasizing the importance of monitoring your skin and getting regular check-ups! You can find the article online at https://people.com/health/hugh-jackman-test-negative-skin-cancer/
Last week we attended the annual IAA conference in Edmonton! It was so great to speak with colleagues about how to advance our practices while enjoying good company!
We love how this lip prosthesis turned out! Ashley will be presenting on this case at the IAA conference this year!
Swipe to add lashes and tinting 😊
Auric prostheses are essential for our patients! They can hold glasses, hearing devices, etc.! Big or small, we love them all!
This weekend, Allison went to Chicago to visit her alma mater and attend the Southern Implants course on craniofacial implants and titanmagnetics! Super excited to implement what we’ve learned into our treatment plans!
Can you believe it’s been an entire year since the docuseries premiered?! Us either!

Mixing precise colors is challenging but getting them in the right location is a whole other story.
Last night Allison had the honor of attending Women Rock’s Drink for Pink, providing support for those fighting breast cancer! A wonderful evening with wonderful people!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Oh the difference lashes can make! Lashes like these are prone to breakage if they get handled often, so for this patient we left part of the bottom lash line “lash free” and painted on some fake ones later(not pictured) to give the illusion of a full bottom lash! This gives the patient a place to hold on to while applying and removing the prosthesis!
Allison was in the hot seat today! A video explaining what we did coming soon! 👀
Happy New Years! Wishing everyone the best in 2023!
On Wednesdays we use PINK…wax
