As many of you know, I'm an octopus fanatic, and so was excited and fascinated by the documentary My Octopus Teacher on Netflix. I was especially touched by a scene where the filmmaker captured the octopus playing with a passing school of dream fish. She would fling her tentacles up into the water at them and watching them scatter in the current--it was magical. This piece is inspired by that scene, and is called "Play." It's 27" by 29" in the frame with wet felted merino wool background and needle felted details (octopus, plants, corals, and critters). The fish are embossed aluminum painted with acrylic and alcohol inks.
