Sports Rehabilitation: Care and Commitment
Your body is capable of incredible things, even in the face of adversity. With the right care and commitment, you can achieve remarkable results through sports rehabilitation physical therapy.
Judy’s PT Story
“My experience at Fyzical was outstanding! I think of the staff here as my Fitness Family. I’m an avid exerciser who had to have a total knee replacement, and I was frustrated and discouraged by having to interrupt my physical fitness schedule. However, Jose Aubrey and all of the staff expertly guided me through the rehabilitation process. They were gentle, kind, and encouraging, yet pushed me a little each visit to progress to full recovery. I will miss my sessions with them, but I look forward to seeing them often as I have now returned to my fitness classes at Elite. Most of all I want to thank Jose for his expertise and personal attention that was essential to attaining my recovery.”
Sports Rehabilitation: Sports-Specific
Over 80% of individuals who undergo sports rehabilitation physical therapy report significant improvements in functional mobility, strength, and range of motion, allowing them to resume their athletic activities with confidence.
Sports Specific Rehabilitation
Research indicates that athletes who undergo sports-specific rehabilitation after injury return to their pre-injury level of performance 2-3 weeks earlier than those who do not undergo such rehabilitation, demonstrating the significant impact of physical therapy on recovery time.
We absolutely love hearing from our amazing patients on the services we have provided! Check out this review from Caroline! 😁
APTA: Sports Rehabilitation
According to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), over 8.6 million sports and recreation-related injuries occur annually in the United States alone, making sports rehabilitation physical therapy a crucial aspect of recovery.
Benefits of an anti-inflammatory diet
If you suffer from pain or inflammation, physical therapy can help! Pairing physical therapy with an anti-inflammatory diet can help you live a pain-free lifestyle. Follow the tips below to stick to an anti-inflammatory diet:
• Avoid sugars and simple carbs.
• Limit your intake of dairy and whole grains.
• Eat your vegetables – especially raw vegetables!
• Limit the number of processed foods you're consuming.
• Decrease your red meat intake. Replace the red meats in your diet with fish and chicken.

Suffering from hip pain?
Experiencing hip pain?
Hip pain can be caused by the hip getting worn down with age or usage, after a fall resulting in a broken or fractured hip bone, arthritis, bursitis, or tendinitis.
Physical therapy can help with pain relief, improved mobility, and your quality of life. Physical therapy for hip pain typically includes manual therapy techniques, exercise programs, ice/heat therapy, or electrical stimulation. All around, physical therapy takes a holistic and multi-faceted approach to helping patients manage their hip pain.
The Importance of Sleep to Maintain Balance
Sleeping is an essential part of maintaining good physical and mental health.
Without enough sleep, your balance can be thrown off, leading to increased fatigue, impaired concentration, and decreased motivation. Studies have shown that lack of sleep can decrease activity level and coordination, which can affect balance.
Make sure you're getting enough restful sleep to stay balanced!
How Exercise Can Improve Balance
Did you know that exercising regularly can help improve your balance, strength, and overall well-being?
Studies have shown that just 30 minutes of aerobic activity each day can help reduce the risk of falls and other balance-related injuries in older adults. Regular exercise strengthens your core muscles which helps with balance, coordination, and posture.
Contact your local FYZICAL for an individualized plan to stay moving and Fight the Fall!
Balance Training
How can you tell if your balance needs improvement?
Follow this simple test below to see if you may need balance training:
• Stand barefoot next to a counter, sink, or chair with your hand gently grasping the counter surface.
• Put one foot directly in front of the other, so that one heel touches the opposite toes.
• Gently lift your hand up but keep it close to the counter in case you need to grab it quickly. Try to do this for 10 seconds.
• Now try it with your eyes closed.
Did you wobble or lose balance? This means your balance may need work! Contact us at FYZICAL FYZICAL Mechanicsburg to learn more about our balance training program!
Why we lose our balance
Falling occurs because the body’s balance has been disrupted through the person’s sensory and/or motor systems. A person’s body can maintain balance because the brain receives and interprets information from several different types of senses:
• Vision (from the eyes) helps orient you to your environment.
• Proprioception or joint position sense (from your joints and muscles, telling your brain where your body is in space).
• The vestibular system (from the inner ear) senses motion, equilibrium, and head position.
Based on these inputs, the brain sends information to different muscles of the body to help maintain balance. Contact the FYZICAL nearest you to get a fall risk screening today.
Are you feeling off balance or have you fallen recently?
If so, you should consider a Fall Risk Screening to identify if you are at risk for future falls which may cause injury. Falls are preventable and there are steps you can take to improve your balance!
If you or a loved one suffers from imbalance, contact us today to schedule a Fall Risk Screening.
Do you suffer from headaches, grinding of your teeth, clicking of your jaw, or even ear pain?
If you are suffering from any of the conditions above, this may be a sign of Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD). This is a disorder of the jaw muscles and nerves caused by injury to the temporomandibular joint, which is the joint between your jaw and skull.
Don't suffer with pain and discomfort! At FYZICAL Mechanicsburg, our expert therapists can help resolve TMJD and may prevent the need for surgery.
FYZICAL Mechanicsburg therapists have advanced clinical education and training, specialty certifications, and years of experience of providing hands-on healing.
An additional core requirement for our therapists is a loving, caring, and helpful personality. Our supportive therapists provide an environment fit for a successful recovery!
