April is National Autism Awareness Month! Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects a person’s ability to communicate, respond to surroundings, and form relationships with others. It currently impacts 1 out of every 54 children in the US. Awareness can spread the knowledge of autism and inform about the importance of early diagnosis and intervention.

Please vote Yes on 2 in the Massachussetts ballot today. It requires dental insurance companies to spend more of your patient premiums on patient care, despite the misleading ads released by big dental insurance companies that they alone are promoting. Your dental insurance should benefit you, and unsurprisingly the insurance companies would prefer to stick with the status quo which benefits them.

The facts are clear - question 2 requires insurance carriers to spend at least 83% of premium dollars on patient care rather than on administrative costs and CEO salaries. It requires more transparency as well in their spending. Carriers who do not meet this standard will need to reimburse covered individuals and groups, so you may even get a refund at the end of the year. Vote YES on question 2 for better dental benefits.

He’s a dentist and a NFL referee!

Last Sunday, Mike Morton made his NFL officiating debut and became the first Super Bowl winner to become an NFL official!

Dr. Mike Morton played a total of 7 years in the NFL. For the past 15 years, the former NFL LB has worked as a dentist in Kannapolis.

This year there is a historic ballot question. As an “in network” office it is very sad for us to see many of our patients get hit with large copays & barely any coverage as insurance maximums have not changed since the 1980’s! This year Question #2 in Massachusetts is meant to address this very problem. A YES vote would require insurance companies to spend at least 83% of premium dollars collected on dental services or refund the difference to patients, as opposed to insurance companies using the money for executive salaries or other administrative costs. This medical loss ratio (MLR) is already in effect in Massachusetts for medical health insurance and voting yes on question 2 would establish it for dental insurance as well. This is a historic opportunity and affects almost everyone.
