New paper alert!! Currently working in the lobby for the conference and am LOVING the reflection of the lights to celebrate this. Our team loves measurement, especially exploring ways to describe sexuality and relationship experiences- this paper takes at a tool that was developed for teens and adapts it for use with adults. Loved working with Xihan, , and Dr Greaves-Lord on this!

And another one! Using a strengths-based approach (you know we love that 😍), is focusing her thesis on understanding how emotions are read by kids with and without autistic and ADHD traits. Kids 8-12 come for a lab visit and get to look at pictures and watch videos on our eye tracker, a parent fills out some surveys, and then participants get a gift card ☺️ Send us a message if you want to help out with her study! Congrats on a great proposal 🎉🎉

Big thesis proposal week around here! Master’s student proposed her project yesterday, looking at how autistic children ages 8-12 think about gender. Excited to see her findings and to learn more about how gender develops across the lifespan! Yay Natalie!

Wahoo!! Abby Donaghue, current Master’s student, successfully proposed her thesis today. She is focused on how parents and schools offer and think about arts education for autistic students in Massachusetts. A lovely combination of Abby’s interests and such an important topic to help us improve access to arts education in our state.

We are still collecting data for this one so if you want to contribute and participate (for $30!) please check out our Current Studies on our lab website!

Lots of great moments yesterday but a touching highlight was hearing Henry and Evelyn Milorin, long time Medford residents and parents of an autistic adult son who was born before children with disabilities were legally included in schools. An important reminder how much change has occurred in recent decades, how much work is left to do in the pursuit of accessibility and acceptance, and the amazing power of persistent advocates 💜 Thanks for a great event, Commission on Disability

About an hour til our faculty/staff facing training on making college spaces more accessible for neurodivergent students… which actually makes them more accessible for everyone! This is a training that we co-developed with a neurodivergent student and that we are thrilled to be sharing. Thanks for hosting us, CELT!

Fun day at the school to learn more about how we prepare our medical professionals to provide high quality and tailored care to autistic patients. Stay tuned as we get ready to develop some augmented and virtual reality platforms as a next step!

Another dissertation proposal in the books! Simone has been working hard these past months with an advisory board and campus partners to develop a workshop series for neurodivergent students called ‘Navigating Tufts.’ The series starts in October (Tufts students- if interested, shoot us a message!). Big congrats to Simone on this big milestone! 🐘🐘

Our own Xihan proposed her dissertation today. She’s combining her interests in sexuality, cultura context, and autism across the lifespan for her final stage of the doctorate. Super cool atudy using interviews to create a tool to better understand how we adapt sexuality and relationship education for a range of people. If you’re an autistic adult with Thoughts On This Topic, we would love to hear from you!

to Xihan on this major milestone 💜💜🏆🏆
