The Ole Guys Shop
It is basically a retired mans Hobby Shop where I work 6 days a week building or painting cars / trucks and just about anything collectible.
With the projects I own and friends wanting something done you will see me there working every day
Working on the Nova rusted broken fender bolts - had to weld to one but after 5 times I drilled it out then broke a tap in it. Then cut it out and repaired it and welded it back together. Like chasing a crazy dog by the tail and I have to remove the door to get to the other broken fender bolt.
Good old Monday at my shop was busy like always. Was working on the 68 Nova but a dually truck came in from the same customer. His brother hit it and I'm going to fix it for them.
Currant job in my shop I'm working on doing a few small things to it
In the process of trying to get my Herniated chest repaired from the open heart surgeries a CT scan showed I had a Module in my right lung. Well after another full scan and a biopsy they informed me it was Cancer. It is a small amount of slow growing cancer and they are going to have me go to Stanford within 6 months and have it surgically removed. They will go through my back and remove the Nodule and part of my lung and maybe some lymph glands. Until then and shortly after the surgery I'll still be working at my shop working like normal.
Well both motors in the 47 and the 97 have been pulled out and tomorrow will work on installing the 97 motor into the 47. The Mark 8 32 valve 97 motor will make the 47 run down the road with ease.
Once again I got more balls then brains taking on jobs. This time its a engine swap for a friend. The custom built 47 Lincoln on a 94 chassis had the motor seize from no water. I'm pulling a motor out of a 94 Lincoln and the one out of the 47 and swapping them along with the intakes also.
Well after the Roadster went home I finished up the Mustang and the guy brought his other Mustang in. I've pulled the doors off and rebushinged the hinges and added a hood trim strip. I've also started cutting the rear lower rusted out quarter panel out and have one inner patch panel already. The outer quarter panel is coming so I got in a Model A Ford for a Summer service. I went over the whole car and adjusted both points and timing and adjusted brakes and checked and added fluids and greased up the suspension and sent it home.
Well FB Market place banned me for 30 days for absolutely No reason saying I violated their Community Standards. I had not posted anything for a month or so - so how did I violate anything ? I finished up redoing the 36 yesterday and I'm doing the Mustang fender now.
After over $50,000 and 2 1/2 months of the shop being closed I'm being forced to go back to work because I'm not healing up. My chest bones hurt and my heart is pumping at 35 instead of over 55 because they screwed me up ! Also people are not doing work for me that they are supposed to be doing and I need to get that straightened up. I guess I have to step up and take care of business and start working again because 2 days in a row of bad news from the heart doctor has me pi**ed. I'd rather die on my feet working than on my ass watching TV !
Got my space window tags and arm bands in today for my 2 spaces at the Big Annual Turlock Swap Meet but I wont be attending this year. Both my friends and doctors are against me attending it because it is to soon from my heart surgery. Regretfully I agree and do not want to screw up the healing progress I'm making.
Just had a nurse checkup visit and she said my wounds and I look great and doing better than all her patients. She warned me thought to not start working on just about anything yet and to be carful because I'm still healing up.
Well so far I do not have any leaks I can find so far and I can eat a little and swallow my medications and walk so I'm ahead of the game at this point. I even got to shave this morning and that was tricky with all the tube holes they put into my neck - do not want to start an infection. I've lost about 20lbs so far and will start walking around the park a little and my lungs are clear so far so I feel pretty good considering. Their fitting me with a defibulater vest this morning for a month or so to make sure my heart does not stop again.
ok I' try an update on the Torino at my shop - I've been fighting my computer to do downloading from my camera and the text from my phone. I basically finished up the passenger rear quarter panel today and got it primed up. I did notice 3 little spots that I'll touch up while I do the passenger door - after that I'll be onto the replacing the front floor pans and 2 spots at the rear window.
Ok doing some catching up on what has been happening at my shop. Got the pickup bed on then pulled of a bad water pump and bought and installed a new battery. Welded up some new Cuda fenderwells - radiator support & firewall and will weld them in when their ready for me to do them. Dropped a 1928 Ford Coupe oil pan and welded it up and installed back on with new gasket and seals. A bed wood kit came in for the 54 pickup and I spent a week staining and varnishing and clear coating and polish it out. Then I spent 2 solid days installing it and putting the painted tailgate on. Ordered a new 54 water pump and mailed out the core for it and ordered a new rear bumper and will paint it black and install it when it comes in.
Yes I'm still working on the 53 GMC pickup and will start putting it back together here this week and it keeps my mind off of the Cardiologist report I recently got.
More work brings more progress on the 53 GMC pickup today - all the sanding got done and I painted the parts to be Matt black. I'll let them cure and will paint them with Matt Clear here soon. In all the pic's when I took the pictures the parts are shiny but they are still wet and will dull up. After that and they cure some I will spay them with Matt Clear.
Well here is some pic's of the painted 53 GMC and some of its parts I'm working on. After work I came home and decided to spray some w**d killer around my place - sweated so much I think I lost a couple of pounds.
Well the 53 GMC is ready to paint but will have to sit till I can get to it. Today is to hot and tomorrow I have a Heart Doctors appoint to go over the test results. Probably Wednesday morning I'll paint the cab.
After 2 days of being sidetracked I got back on track and got some work done.
Ok after finishing the 64 pickup I wet sanded and polished out my 01 Mercedes and now back onto the 53 GMC.
Ok a quick wash in the morning and the pickup goes home to its owner and I will start on my next job the 53 GMC pickup that I had already been working on.
well after a 13 hour day working I made it home in one piece but very soar and tired. Not so much the hours but going in and out from under the pickup truck installing the word and tightening up the stainless bolts kills you.
I wanted to go riding today but I went in to work to get a few more things done on the 64 pickup - 8 hours later I went home. I got upset about the missing mounting holes in the bed boards and will tackle that problem tomorrow.
Ok things are going well with the 64 pickup and I'll go back to work in a hour or so to put another coat on the bed wood. Tomorrow will be sanding down the front bumper and grill for paint.
Ok I got to work at 5am this morning and painted n clear coated the 64 Chevy pickup cab. I started at 75 degrees and used slow reducer and activator because of the heat. This is just supposed to be his work truck but it has been in the family since new.
Went in this morning to paint the pickup but the temperature was to hot to start painting and it was getting hotter by the minute. I'll have to wait till late at night or Very early morning to start painting.
Got to work early again this morning before the heat and got the 64 Jams all taped up and painted n clear coated !
As I said I would yesterday I did paint the bed / bed rails / fenders / bed steps / tailgate & rearview mirrors this morning.
Been trying to not bore people with my postings and will probably delete my personal page post because of security concerns expressed by numerous friends. Shop post will continue and here is a update on the 64 Chevy pickup I'm doing right now. Because of the high temperatures I will start painting half the stuff early tomorrow morning !
Got the 64 Chevy pickup a little further along and will try to put the cab in primer tomorrow before it gets hot. Each day it gets harder to get things done in this heat but it will get done ! I also pulled out the bench seat and had it reuphoulstered and put it back in already.
