I am doing an open house from 5 to 8 pm at 2243 S Farmington in Meridian today. Buying a home is one of the biggest financial decisions you'll ever make. Don't rush into it! Instead, establish a timeline that gives you plenty of time to weigh the pros and cons. So you are THINKING about moving....selling your home and buying another.....Here are a few things to look at first:
1) How much money do you have to budget (reasonably) for deferred maintenance? Don't kill yourself on this one. But do look at the obvious stuff you have ignored that would make a difference to someone driving up, walking in and looking around.
2) How much money have you saved for earnest money and down payment and closing costs? Earnest money doesn't have to be a ton, but the down payment and closing cost amounts should be discussed with your lender. Research local and national down payment assistance resources.
3) After August 17th 2024, as a buyer, you will need to negotiate with your Realtor on how much you will pay them for their services, as well as negotiate with the seller in that regard. You will also need to have a signed contract with your Realtor to even enter a home of interest that you want to see.
4) Take some time to research the Real Estate industry and legal services to understand what is available to you after the legal changes are implemented. Learn as much as you can about the entire process of selling and buying, and the necessity for legal representation.
5) Ask a lot of Questions!
