A pretty little ombre just in time for spring break & all the vacay plans she has coming up 😎

We're loving this high contrast, cooler caramel look. 🤤

To keep this ombre from having such a harsh line, I did zig zag subsections, teased, overdirected, then painted at varying heights. I didn't lighten previously lightened areas. When pulling foils, I did wet balayaged some pieces at the bowl to help eliminate any red undertones exposed from lifting her dark color and any previously lightened areas that may have needed a refresh, but not many.

This lovely lady was only in town for a little while but wanted to get her hair done before returning back home. She wanted something more lived-in and that would grow out nicely. 

After lightening her to the desired level, we did a color melt to create a beautiful, blended look and finished with a layered cut.

We utilized teasylights and foilyage techniques to create a beautiful natural look. We also utilized her darker base for the depth, which we had just touched up to cover her grays at her appointment and consultation the week prior.
We used 2 different toner formulas to melt and complete the look for a smooth transition and blended grow out.

🍾 2023 may be coming to an end but Lived-in hair trends are here to stay! 

What makes them so popular is that they are customized to each individual and usually utilize your natural hair color to allow for a natural grow out and extends the longevity of your look.

Achieving these lived-in looks can be done by lightening the hair or adding depth back into the hair with any number of techniques. 

For this custom color, we first went in to break up the line of demarcation from her outgrowth with teasylights in a foiliayage technique. After those were processed to the desired level of lift and the hair was clarified, we went in with a reverse balayage technique on damp hair. 

This look took 4 different formulas and lots of blending. With how light her ends were, we needed 2 formulas - 1. tone down the blonde but still keep us light 2. fill/low light some of the previous blonde. We also needed a formula for a subtle  transition shade, as well as one for the root to meld the whole look together. 

We finished off the look with a trim, blended layers and texturizing. The appointment took ~4hrs for perfection! The end result was worth it!

Originally booked as a full highlight, this appointment turned into a custom color where we did a reverse balayage technique.

Why might you ask?

At the beginning of the appointment, we had a thorough consultation where we determined that she actually wanted something more low-maintenance than her previous to-the-scalp highlights, a color closer to her natural at the root and throughout while also blending her grays, and also keeping some brighter pieces throughout as well. We also did a cut + style to complete this look. For this specific appointment, it took a total of 3hrs and her next maintenance appointment will be in 4-6wks for a root touch up with a possible toner to refresh the ends, if needed.

We were both ecstatic with the outcome and I loved seeing the smile on her face when the final look was revealed to her.

So how did we go from her before to this?

This custom color was achieved by babylights around the hairline and using a foilyage technique where we lightened heavy weaved zig zagged sections of hair. To preserve the integrity of previous lightened hair and for even lift, 2 strengths of developer were used in different lightener mixes. The remaining hair left out was untouched until the final color was applied. The color was applied on damp hair, from roots to ends. This allowed her greys to be blended beautifully and her previously lightened hair (that was not retouched this time) to be colored as well as the freshly lightened hair. We finished the service with a haircut + style to compliment her new color. This whole service took just shy of 4hrs.
