Only rain in the storm drain! You should never dump oil, transmission or brake fluid, or other chemicals, onto the ground.
Unlike the sanitary sewer system, which is designed to capture and treat wastewater from sinks, toilets and other sources, discharges from the storm sewer system get no treatment and may ultimately drain into washes, lakes, retention basins, community parks, and can even make its way into local rivers.

Give your grass and your water bill a break this winter!
We encourage all water customers to consider skipping the overseeding of a winter lawn. Winter ryegrass needs a lot more water than dormant Bermuda. It takes about 8,000 gallons of water for every 1,000 square feet of grass to have this winter luxury. By opting for a less lush lawn this winter, you can save water, time, and money, which benefits both you and your community. Need help deciding? Check out our top 10 reasons to skip the winter lawn at https://my.mesaaz.gov/3a9Eun3. Water - Use It Wisely

Siphon Fire Update:
The Siphon fire is burning in the Superstition Mountains. The fire is over 2,500 acres. It started a few days ago in the Superstition Wilderness area. Today's winds caused a dramatic increase, and Tortilla Flats and Canyon Lake are evacuating. The forecast is warm and windy until this weekend, when it will cool down, and there is also a chance for rain.
Efforts are being made to keep the fire away from structures in Apache Junction. Mesa’s emergency management team is closely monitoring the situation. Mesa residents do not need to take any action at this time, but it is a good idea to keep an eye on the news, the City website, and social media pages in case there are notifications.
Our department has sent one unit with a crew of four to assist through the mutual aid process.
