Christian Care Communities & Services: Mesquite

The residents of Hartin were thrilled by the visit of the Prestoncrest Church of Christ’s youth ministry. As part of their annual community service, they helped with various tasks such as maintaining flower beds, washing windows, and washing cars. This year, we were thankful for a resident's sponsorship of their lunch and snacks. Additionally, the Prestoncrest Church of Christ youth organized a mission trip, and the residents donated over $850. We are grateful for Prestoncrest’s dedication to serving our community. The ladies had a fun and competitive Canasta Tournament. They played in pairs. The first-place winners received Starbucks gift cards and chocolate. The second-place winners received Starbuck cards too.

We celebrated National Donut Day in style, a perfect opportunity for meaningful conversations and camaraderie with friends and the Director of Independent Living, Byron Nelson. &S

Welcome Home Housewarming party for new resident Barbara. Barbara just retired from 35 years teaching at Dallas Christian Schools, in Mesquite, Texas.

We had a beautiful day as we honored all of the mothers and mother-like figures in our lives. We are grateful for you!

Residents from Greenway Village enjoyed an Ice Tea Social on the Veranda! The weather was perfect and the ladies attending were enjoying each other and being outside in the fresh, spring air.

The theme for the GW Supper Club for April was “Let it Rain!” We had a fun and whimsical evening with a lovely meal and several rain, inspired songs by entertainer, Marty Ruiz. Pics are below. Thank you!

We’ve got Spring fever! We had a delightful time at our Brunch & Bouquets event with floral design expert Teresa Renfro, owner of The Wild Orchid Co. in Sunnyvale, TX. We got to design our very own floral arrangements to take home and enjoyed a delicious brunch with friends! At Christian Care we plant smiles, grow laughter, and harvest love❤

The independent living residents enjoyed a cordial afternoon of Fellowship and a sweet snack, providing an opportunity for residents to connect and welcome new members to the community.

Hartin and McMillan's residents enjoyed a day excursion to Ennis, Texas, featuring the stunning Bluebonnet flowers, a meal at Cotton Patch, and shopping at Buc-ee's.

Tuesday, 4/2/24 was International Children's Book Day. Anne Worth is a resident of Greenway Village who is an author of children's books. She told us about the books she has written and read some from each book. She has written three books and will be writing her fourth book soon. She also has dolls that go with books. The dolls and books are sold on Amazon and they deal with situations that children face such as death of a family member, a best friend moving away and a loved puppy who was lost and later found. Annie also told us how she became involved and interested in writing children's books.

Springtime in Texas means that the CCC&S Bluebonnet Hill is in full bloom!

Our teammates and residents gathered across our community today to watch the TOTAL Solar Eclipse. What an awe inspiring event to witness!

Have you heard of the beautiful Azalea trails located in Tyler, Texas? The Hartin residents enjoyed a leisurely drive down to Tyler, Texas to explore the breathtaking Azalea trails and savor a delicious lunch at Chicken Salad Chick.

A day filled with adventure, exploring the charming alleys of Calloway's Nursery in search of the perfect spring flowers, and satisfying our sweet cravings with a visit to Braum's for a refreshing ice cream treat.

Residents from the Hartin Cottages enjoyed an outing to The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza last week. The museum, located within the former Texas School Book Depository building, chronicles the assassination and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. As we were walking through the exhibit, the residents shared both tender memories and universal sorrow as they reminisced about this event and life in the 1960s.
