Join us in congratulating our 2024 Alumnus of the Year Fr. Frank!
A 1973 graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School, Frank J. Giroir was ordained a priest on May 16th, 1981, at St. Louis Cathedral. Since then, he has served for over four decades as a parish priest for the Archdiocese of New Orleans, spending time at St. Mark's in Chalmette, Resurrection, and St. Rita's in Harahan. Today, he is the pastor at St. Anselm in Madisonville.
About twenty years after his ordination, he was honored by Abp. Schulte and Pope John Paul II with the title of Chaplain of His Holiness, granted to a select few priests around the world who have served the Church faithfully for many years. With this honor comes the title of “Monsignor,” but most people around Rummel simply call him “Father Frank.”
A champion of Archbishop Rummel High School, Fr. Frank demonstrates his Raider Pride through diligent alumni and school event participation. In addition, Msgr. Frank J. Giroir publicly displays his Raider Pride in his alma mater as an example to others to follow, whether it be at alumni events or budget meetings across the state. It’s rare that the Rummel football team takes the field without Fr. Frank on the sidelines to cheer them on.
Msgr. Frank J. Giroir is a man who embodies what it means to follow in the footsteps of Archbishop Joseph Francis Rummel. The wisdom, courage, and fortitude of Fr. Frank is a guiding light for other alumni who know him well. As an alumnus, Fr. Frank has been integral in revitalizing alumni participation over the years as well as supporting multiple academic and extracurricular programs.
