Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy- Stress Management
An approach enabling clients to become more aware of thoughts and patterns of thinking that contribute to the stress and suffering in their lives. Rather than immediately trying to change such thinking, one can practice non-judgmental awareness of thoughts and emotions to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of one’s reactions to certain situations and events. Similar to the approach above with more focus on a particular issue and compassionate exploration of one’s emotions. Psychoeducation may be provided to help clients understand how diet (e.g. caffeine, sugar) and other behaviors can exacerbate some conditions. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

A well-defined educational approach using intensive training in mindfulness meditation to teach people how to take better care of themselves. Developed at the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Behavioral Medicine Consultation

Behavioral medicine views health and illness as a combination of biological, behavioral and psychosocial factors. Almost three decades of research have shown that changes in lifestyle and behaviors can prevent illness, improve health, and reduce symptoms of illness. If you know you need to make some changes, but are not exactly sure how to do so, our interventions may be of great help. Additionally, if you have been recently diagnosed with a medical condition, consultation may include education about your medical condition, coping skills to deal with the stress and consequences of your condition, cognitive-behavioral stress management and enhancing social support through problem solving, assertiveness training and communication skills.
