1️⃣ Submit a FULL file! We know there is the saying Less is More, but in this case, More is Best! Prevent questions that could cause delays and conditions that could be thrown your client's way.

2️⃣ Explain the file! No one understands the loan file better than YOU. To prevent an underwriter from drawing any wrong conclusions... include a note with an explanation of your file. This can even help reduce conditions!

3️⃣ Preparing your income calculation sheet! Ensure everything listed is according to program guidelines and specifically lays out how you reached the figure you are disclosing. This will aid the underwriter in determining what you are trying to achieve. 👍

With a forward mortgage, the homeowner makes payments to their lender every month for several years. A reverse mortgage, on the other hand, is for individuals aged 62 or older, and the lender makes payments directly to the homeowner.

Homeowners can leverage their equity to refinance their current mortgage or even purchase a new home for retirement! The most common type of reverse mortgage is known as a Home Equity Conversion Mortgage, or HECM. HECMs are a loan program provided to eligible borrowers via the Federal Housing Administration. These loans are highly regulated, federally backed, and insured.
