"Kicked off Miami Spice with a bang at . Miami Spice is a two-month restaurant promotional period where top eateries offer three-course prix fixe lunch and dinner menus. We visited the iconic Bib Gourmand Michael’s Genuine in the Design District. Restaurants with excellent wine programs, like Michael’s Genuine, provide an elevated Miami Spice experience and we enjoyed seven different wines alongside our three-course dinner. Below is the highly recommended menu and the wines we selected by the glass to accompany it.

Course one

Marinated mussels / Donnhoff “Estate” Riesling Nahe 2021 (This Riesling was captivating and punches well above its weight class)

Beef tartare / Terrazze Dell’Etna Sparkling Rose 2019 / Swick Wines Syrah & Viognier 2022

Course two

Wood roasted cobia meuniere / Louis Michel Chablis 2022 (classic Chablis)

Pork Milanese / Lua Rosso no 7 Nebbiolo blend (undoubtedly Nebbiolo on the nose but the ripeness of fruit point towards the “New World”)

Course three

Espresso flan / Trimbach Vendanges Tardive Gewurztraminer 2014 (These sweet Alsatian wines are delicious and underappreciated)

Banana upside down cake / Miles Tinta Negra Madeira 1997

Everything was delicious but the item that I am still thinking about days later was the espresso flan which might possibly be the best flan I’ve ever had. That dessert alone is worth a trip."
