βThe benefits a safe resistance training program can have on children and adolescents include: muscle strength, muscle power, muscular endurance, bone strength, flexibility, agility, physical performance, body composition, cardiovascular health, injury resistance, psychosocial well being, and promotion of positive exercise habits.
Resistance training includes any movements that overcome an opposing force.
The opposing force can be anything from gravity (i.e. bodyweight) to external loads (e.g. bands, weights, etc.).
Children already engage in these types of movements everyday; for example, getting up off the ground (a push-up) and lifting their backpacks (a deadlift, perhaps even a clean).
Because they cannot be easily eliminated from daily life isnβt it best to spend years increasing the safety and efficiency of the movements by honing mechanics and consistency?
Resistance training exercises are applicable and beneficial to any age group and any ability level.β

π₯³π₯³This year, we introduce the 'After Party,' a brand-new experience tailored for youth athletes who lift for the pure love of the game, and may be new to the competition scene. Limited to just 20 lifters, this opportunity to "just lift" in the After Party promises an atmosphere of camaraderie and passion, where the only pressure is the one you put on yourself.
Come show your love of lifting and experience a meet without the pressure of qualifying. Hit the platform and sling some steel with your friends.

**You Do NOT have to be a Salus member for your kid to join.
CrossFit Kids class at Salus approaches fitness through the lens of FUN, and ultimately hopes to foster a lifelong love of fitness.

This fitness program is designed specifically for kids ages 5-8.

Skills are focused on the very basic foundations of functional movement and age appropriate developmental motor skills.
β
The class duration is relatively short (45 minutes) and includes a play-based curriculum is entirely geared towards teaching kids to think of exercise as FUN (because it is!).
β
The goal of CrossFit Kids is to develop and improve general physical fitness in order to prepare kids to be safe in sports (and life in general).
β
Drop-in for a one-time class or sign up for the punch card which gives you 5 sessions with the flexibility to use the sessions within 6 weeks.

Classes are Wednesdays at 4:30pm.
