Authentic Samurai Unarmed and Weapons Based Systems Tailored for the types of situations one is like

Most Martial Arts of today have drifted away from the combat realities of the past, and have become focused on specific areas of study. Bujutsu, however, continues to cover a wide range of skills relating to personal protection. The origin of Bujutsu stems from our need to protect precious life, what we hold valuable, and bring about righteousness through the techniques of perfecting the mind and

Proposal: Mindful Changes to Rhythm of Daily Movements for the Treatment of Depression

Introduction:
Depression is a prevalent mental health condition affecting millions of people worldwide. Traditional treatments such as medication and psychotherapy have shown varying degrees of effectiveness. This proposal aims to explore the potential benefits of incorporating mindfulness techniques and deliberate changes to the rhythm of daily movements as a novel approach to managing depression.
Objectives:
The primary objectives of this study are as follows:
a. Investigate the impact of mindfulness practices on the symptoms of depression.
b. Examine how conscious alterations to the rhythm of daily activities can affect mood and emotional well-being.
c. Determine if combining mindfulness and mindful movement can enhance the treatment outcomes for depression.
Methodology:
a. Study Design: A randomized controlled trial (RCT) will be conducted to compare the effects of the intervention group (mindful movement + mindfulness practices) with the control group (usual care).
b. Participants: The study will include individuals aged 18-65 years, diagnosed with mild to moderate depression, who meet the inclusion criteria.
c. Intervention: The intervention group will participate in an 8-week program that incorporates mindfulness exercises (e.g., meditation, breathing techniques) and mindful changes to the rhythm of daily activities (e.g., slow and deliberate movements). The control group will receive standard care without any intervention.
d. Data Collection: Pre- and post-intervention assessments will be conducted using standardized depression scales and self-report questionnaires. Additionally, qualitative interviews will be conducted to gather subjective experiences and feedback.
e. Data Analysis: Statistical analysis will be performed to compare the outcomes between the intervention and control groups, with a focus on changes in depression severity and overall well-being.
Ethical Considerations:
a. Informed Consent: All participants will provide informed consent before participating in the study.
b. Confidentiality: Participant data will be anonymized and securely stored to ensure confidentiality.
c. Research Ethics Approval: This study will seek ethical approval from the relevant institutional review board (IRB) before commencement.
Expected Outcomes:
It is anticipated that participants in the intervention group will demonstrate reduced depression symptoms and improved emotional well-being compared to the control group. Additionally, the study aims to provide insights into the feasibility and potential benefits of mindful changes to daily movements in depression treatment.
Significance and Implications:
If successful, this research could contribute to the development of complementary and holistic interventions for depression management. By combining mindfulness practices with mindful movements, this study could provide a new avenue for individuals seeking non-pharmacological approaches to alleviate depression symptoms.
Timeline:
The study is expected to be conducted over a period of 12 months, including recruitment, intervention implementation, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
Budget:
A detailed budget outlining the necessary resources and expenses required for the study will be provided upon request.
Conclusion:
By investigating the potential benefits of mindful changes to the rhythm of daily movements in treating depression, this research aims to contribute valuable insights to the field of mental health and well-being. We believe this study has the potential to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals struggling with depression and improve their quality of life.
Thank you for considering our proposal. We look forward to the opportunity to conduct this research and contribute to the advancement of mental health treatments.

Yang Lu Chan Old Style Tai Chi Chuan: Advanced Training Manual 04/23/2023

I am very excited to announce the release of my newest book now available on Amazon as both an Ebook and paperback.
“Yang Lu Chan Old Style Tai Chi Chuan”
This is an advanced training manual that not only explains the background and principles of this style of Tai Chi but also discusses how to apply the Reeling Silk movements and general rules of practice for this form. I provide detailed description of all the transitions along with video links the reader can view on my YouTube channel developed to support this book.
Anyone who purchases this book will be entitled to one free month of training at my studio in Milford New Hampshire.

Yang Lu Chan Old Style Tai Chi Chuan: Advanced Training Manual This form may look very different than the modern Yang Family 108 Movement form that is widely taught around the world today. Although all the standard frames or movements are in this form, the extended transitions as well as the obvious Silk Reeling clearly show the original martial application ...

One of the conflicts that arise in taking the martial path is that at some point there is a realization and even an impulse to shrink from the violence we see in the human condition. Although we are trained to perform violence when required and confront death in order to transcend the limits of worldly existence there is a dramatic moral crisis that is central to developing the faith needed to perform our sacred duty. A paradox interconnects disciplined action and freedom. We must explore within ourselves concepts such as duty, discipline, action and knowledge to allow for our ultimate understanding of phenomenal existence. Our freedom lies in disciplined action that is both performed without attachment to the action itself while being dedicated with loving devotion to those we hold dear. How can we continue to act in a world of pain without suffering and despair and enable ourselves as warriors to control our passion and become men of discipline? The real battlefield is the human body, where within this material realm we struggle to know oneself.

Omote has a general meaning of “outer” or “surface.” But like many things in Japanese culture and language, it has a couple layers of understanding occurring all at the same time.

The term in Japanese martial arts in general, refers to a technique that occurs before the attack generates power and usually controls the opponent across the center. This is a counterpoint to ura techniques. Most techniques thus have an omote and ura version of them.

Sometimes the omote of a specific technique is the obvious physical parts of the technique, the stance, the actions, etc. Learning the techniques at this level, might be thought of as the equivalent of a black belt. It is after this level of basic understanding is achieved when many of the “hidden” parts of the technique which allow it to work are then studied or revealed.

There’s also a level of omote in more koryu Japanese martial arts. These are the outer techniques that are taught to the casual student. There are some techniques in the curriculum that are hidden and only taught to those high level students that will continue the system.

However, many Japanese arts also refer to the hidden meaning of the terms omote and ura. There is a connotation of “obvious” and “hidden.” This can occur in a couple of different ways. Ura has the general meaning of “behind” or “the other side.” However, there are several different levels of meaning and connotation. As an example in Japanese martial arts, Ura references a techniques that occurs after the attacker has generated power or movement and usually involves moving offline and/or turning to the back of the attacker. This lets the attack continue unabated.

However, many Japanese arts also refer to the hidden meaning of the terms omote and ura. There is a connotation of “obvious” and “hidden.”

Ura can reference hidden parts of a technique. Things that cannot be seen immediately. These are the “hidden” aspects of the technique. Some might use the term “internal.” But there’s another meaning as well. When teaching the curriculum to someone, there are techniques that are not for the public. These techniques are only taught to the inheritor of the system or the most dedicated student. These are also called hidden techniques.

On a side note...
When visiting and observing a class at another Dojo. Never put your host in a position where out of being polite they allow certain requests. Example: don’t ask if you can make a point to the class and then proceed to teach a different technique poorly.
Don’t address the class and pump yourself up inviting them to train with you and then be so rude as to hand out your business cards.
However if someone that ignorant of basic Dojo etiquette comes to your Dojo and requests same, be polite and allow them to act the fool.
Just saying

To all my new FB likes....What would you say to the addition of "No Set Time Classes" added to schedule. This would essentially add two days of open training. You can come to class at any time during those days and stay for as long as you like. Personal instruction and open mat time to practice, or work out. If I get enough positive feedback I will consider creating this option. Welcome to repost, respond or PM for more details.
