In the post on the West Haven Republican candidate for State Rep I used a picture from WTNH. That headline is no longer on the news app and Milford Republicans & the candidate are accusing me of using bad information.
So let me use another source - the Hartford Courant which ran this on their front page.
When Dr Decarlo a criminal justice expert was asked about this action potentially harming the criminal case against the suspect this was his comment
“I can’t really speak to West Haven, but it would be highly unusual for police commissioners to have access to prisoners and be involved in the actual operation of the police department,” he said.
When asked if some police commissions in the state would be granted access to a prisoner area, DeCarlo said “I highly doubt it.”
“I doubt that the chief would allow that,” he said, adding that a commissioner is not generally granted any more access in a police department than that of a politician or civilian.
Police officers aren’t really supposed to express their personal opinions toward suspects.”
Thank you Mr President. You have always put America first.
Yes - this is the candidate who is running against MJ Shannon for State Representative. We don't need this type of poor judgement and hot temper in government.
West Haven police commissioner resigns after berating man in custody WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — On Thursday evening, West Haven Mayor Dorinda Borer told News 8 that the Chair of the West Haven Board of Police Commissioners and Police Commissioner Raymond Collins III…
There is no place in our country for today’s violence apparently aimed at the former President. Details remain unclear and will be slow to come out but we strongly condemn the shooting and send our thoughts to the former President and his family.
This Independence Day, we extend our deepest gratitude to those who have served and continue to serve our country. Your sacrifices grant us the freedom we cherish and the strength we need to continue protecting it. Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸
Independence Day - because freedom isn’t free
Notice your taxes going up? Well, there’s a reason for that. The new Republican mayor's first budget raised taxes on Milford citizens to its highest rate and greatest single year-over-year increase in more than 15 years!
Curious how much yours are going up? Visit MyMilfordTaxes.com and use our new handy dandy calculator. Then come next year, remember that at the voting booth.
Today, we honor , the day in 1865 when Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of the Civil War and the abolition of slavery. This momentous occasion marked the true beginning of freedom for enslaved Black Americans.
Recognizing Juneteenth as a holiday is a crucial step, but our fight for true racial justice is far from over. We must continue to strive for equality, justice, and respect for all. Let’s use this day to renew our commitment to building a society where everyone is truly free.
Happy Father’s Day! Today, we celebrate the love, strength, and wisdom that many fathers bring into our lives. Whether you’re a dad, stepdad, grandfather, or someone who steps in as a father figure, your impact is deeply valued. Wishing everyone a day filled with reflection, appreciation, and love.
The Milford Democrats honor and express our deepest gratitude to the brave women who have served and continue to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. Your courage, dedication, and sacrifices inspire us all. Thank you for your service. 🇺🇸
Thank you Stand for Milford Schools for doing the hard work. For speaking out. For fighting for our kids. You are also all amazing.
Today is Gun Violence Awareness Day. Let's come together to honor the victims and survivors of gun violence and commit to making our communities safer. We stand with every family affected by this epidemic and call for common-sense gun reforms. Together, we can end gun violence.

FWIW, the first income tax came from Republican Abraham Lincoln to pay for the Civil War, because money doesn’t grow on trees, and things cost money.
June also marks PTSD Awareness Month. With currently 12 million people in America living with post traumatic stress, we are grateful EVERY DAY for those who sacrificed so much for our country. We won’t leave you behind, and will work to make sure you are seen and heard.
Unlike others, who lift up those who actively disdain fellow Veterans, we are with you.
Happy Pride Month! We honor and celebrate our LGBTQ+ community members who enrich our city with their diversity, strength, and resilience. This month, and every month, we stand with you in the fight for equality, acceptance, and love. Together, we strive to create a community where everyone is free to be their authentic selves.
TO BE CLEAR
Former president Donald Trump being found guilty of multiple felonies is not a gleeful occasion.
It’s a sad moment in our nation’s history, a first in a line of 46 Presidents.
A nation of laws means that laws and not people rule.
This principle, known as the rule of law, was established by our country’s founders and still holds today.
Yesterday 12 men and women upheld the rule of law. It took courage to serve on that jury, knowing the harassment that would follow.
Let us hope that this serves as a lesson that no one is above our laws and no position can protect you from consequences.
Our hearts are with the family of State Trooper Aaron Pelletier who was killed today in the line of duty. And with his brothers and sisters in uniform who will continue to serve and honor his courage and bravery.
REMINDER
Some call it “cancel culture” — others call it calling out blatant, in your face bigotry, hate, and discrimination with no regard to decency. Regardless, hate has NO PLACE in Milford.
Now that we are past Memorial Day, a day absolutely not for politics, we’d like the address the heckler in a bright red MAGA hat from the parade and any others who thought it appropriate to be political around that solemn day.
It was not only inappropriate to shout about our Commander in Chief on Memorial Day, especially since his son died due to cancer likely from burn pits from his service abroad, but because it’s the ultimate hypocrisy to tell ANYONE who appreciates our military, Veterans, and most especially around those whose family made the ultimate sacrifice, to support a man who called our war dead “suckers” and “losers.” A man who said he didn’t like people who are captured in reference to John McCain and his time as a POW. A man who didn’t want a war wounded Vet around him, because “no one wants to see that.”
Scream and be political, if you must, any other day of the year. But to do so at the Memorial Day parade isn’t only disrespectful, but also outright disgusting when you’re telling people to switch to someone who so forthrightly has such disdain for those who serve.
Shame on you.
