hi 👋🏻 it’s me, alex! owner of neighbor :) in the 5 years i’ve been open, i don’t know that i’ve done a true introduction post 😳 i’m not great at talking about myself but…here it goes! (lots of words ahead!)
i opened neighbor as a pop-up concept in 2019 after graduating with my master’s in art therapy/counseling the year prior. while there were (& are!) so many great kiddo businesses in milwaukee, i found a gap in the market for an art focused space for families with littles. i had the opportunity to test out the idea at our first studio on the eastside.
6 months in and…covid. there was a lot of pivoting during that time & i did what i could to keep going (as so many of us did). big shout out to my amazing staff & loyal customers..without you, i wouldn’t have made it to the other side!
while i still offer a few classes for ages 18mo-7 years at my current space in bay view, i’ve transitioned into offering individual art therapy services for kiddos ages 6-13. thousands of clinical hours later (*literally*) and a couple exams to boot, i’m proud to say i’m a board certified art therapist & licensed professional counselor. i’m loving this new(er) part of my business and am honored to hold space and support children & families in my community 🧡
while you may think neighbor classes are “just another art class”, everything i do is informed by my art therapy practice. i believe that creating in a group is powerful..for the littles but also for their caregivers. we all deserve to play!

NEIGHBOR Art Studio returns to BVCC on Tuesday, September 17th, this time to offer an "Open Studio" hour for teens! Participants ages 13-17 are welcome to join us for an hour of open studio time, dedicated just for them. Create anything you like - BVCC and NEIGHBOR will provide supplies and company!
